edit: so theres another book u need to interpret in basrah that gives u a clue to find the ring of solomon in the northern red sea expedition, and with that u can go back to the church in the massawa expedition and get to the next step of the quest
After finding the ring and the church, the quest should then update on the next steps. Already forgot what it was, but it should be more straightforward by then.
These quest steps are quite sh#tty.
IIRC it's in the bottom left quadrant.
I don't recall much about this quest but I would just highlight that some of these quests only come up if you have the correct crew member with you.
You need to go to the church twice. When you first discover it, it'll tell you something about you being unable to get inside the church. I think if you leave the port and then go back in(there may be a step missing here) and then go to the church again, you'll trigger a cut scene and get a unique item.
Edit: You may have to roam around a bit or trigger the fight near Aden? I can't fully remember. All I remember is that I had to trigger the church twice before I finished chapter 3.
I ran into the spanish armada way earlier on my was to Aden and destroyed them. I did do the massara expedition and it said it was locked up and potentially had treasure. I left the port, sailed around africa and sailed to Suez and back to Aden, to Basrah and then back to Massara for the expedition again but cannot find the church the second time around..
After speaking with Aranda in Manila go to Africa. In the street of Aden you fight the Spanish. It is important to find in an east-african port in a tavern a scholar, who tells you something about wisdom and Solomon. It triggers a hint from Andrew that you have to go to the library in Basrah. There you have to translate the books from Ronald and Pedro. The further way from this point is showed before.
Without meeting this scholar the books in Basrah are not available.
Oh. I figured that part out. I ended up finishing his quest last night.
I had all that done.. there is a scene between Joyce and William that has to happen before you can find the Church a second time in the Massara expedition. I sailed all around east Africa and beyond, further away until it randomly triggered out at sea.
Once I got the cutscene between those two I was finally able to go and find the church in the same exact spot I found it in the first expedition in massara and then I was able to complete his quest no problems.
I think that needs to be addressed by the developers. Andrew's Ch. 3 quest was a huge guessing game and the objectives were a little too open ended.
Hmm that's weird, did you go to the exact same spot for the church again? It should be in the same exact spot as before, near the bottom left corner, in the 3x2(I think?) hole in the mountain area and you'll see a bunch of building textures.
Honestly I forgot how I completed this quest because I got lost prior to this, during the translate the books steps lol. I remember I was able to grab the Ring of Solemon treasure/clue easily but the church took me a while. Did you finish/trigger the ring of Solemon clue/equipment as well? I think it took me about "2 ingame years" to figure out how to do it because I traveled up and down the east coast of Africa before I checked the library for the books so I may have done things out of order? Lol
Yeah. I finished his quest already. You have to trigger the cutscene talk between Joyce and William before you can go to the church on the expedition first. I had not done so. I sailed around until the two of them had their talk.. once they did you can go back to the expedition and find the church in the same spot.
Auto-Sail to Massawa
Go to the Governor's Office
Get the Land Expedition Qualification permit
Go to the Post
Take four characters and only supplies
Go 8SW, 8S to reach the exact valid square
Return to the exit once done
Note: Unlike in most cases, the exact square is not indicated. As such, you'll need to follow the steps exactly to get there.
Set Sail
Wait outside Massawa for two days (you will get a cutscene)
Dock back in Massawa
Note: If you haven't visited every single East African port, you will not get the cutscene until two days after you've visited the last. That includes Toamasina (which isn't technically on the East coast of Africa), which is the reason we visited earlier.
