but honestly, the best way to make money is just find a port in Depression, buy everything, sell to a port in a different cultural sphere which is also Prosperous and you can make all kinds of money. Second to that is selling medicine to a port with a plague. Third is buying from a normal port then selling in a different cultural sphere.
Then to enhance that have a studio, preparation room and accounting room all staffed to give bonuses. then consider getting tax exempt permits in larger ports which sell lots of specialties.
For the Asian characters, buy up specialty goods and move them around the different regions (Ming / Korean / Japanese) for better profits. Once you have better ships that can go longer distances and upgraded characters to improve sailing speed, you can venture further to Southeast Asia or India and sell things there, then bring items back from India/SEA to East Asia.
