The Good:
1. The Linux port downloads properly after putting the beta key in.
2. The Linux port runs.

The Bad:
1. It forces my 1920x1080 desktop to 1024x768 resolution, while the actual game window appears to be a borderless window.
This means that the game window moves out of screen and I can move my mouse around to see the rest of the desktop.
2. The above prevents me from testing the game more.

I am using BunsenLabs (Debian base with the Openbox WM, and added SteamOS Nvidia drivers).

i have the similiar problem with mouse focus window and i found a solution

(before you going further, be sure you have wine installed on your machine)

1. Copy a new file from ...Steamlibrary/steamapps/common/ja2_wildfire/RunWinetricks to Steamlibrary/steamapps/common/ja2_wildfire/RunWinetricks(copy)
2. Edit the last string of the RunWinetricks(copy)
change "./g17_winetricks" to "winecfg"
3. Run the RunWinetricks(copy)
4. Winecfg window pop up
- go to Graphics tab and turn ON the:
"Automatically capture the mouse in full-screen windows"
"Allow the window manager to decorate the windows"
"Allow the window manager to control the windows"
- Press OK

Since this i have no trouble with the cursor and Alt+Tab is not crashing my game anymore.

Hope this helps someone.

My conf:
Arch linux x64
desktop environment: xfce
windows manager: Xfwm4

Hello Kayden,

How You made that changes? From command line I receive errors:
my@computer:~/.local/share/Steam$ steamapps/common/ja2_wildfire/RunWinetricks_copy
steamapps/common/ja2_wildfire/RunWinetricks_copy: line 17: cd: /home/martins/.local/share/Steam/Wine/bin: No such file or directory
steamapps/common/ja2_wildfire/RunWinetricks_copy: line 18: winecfg: command not found

looks like you dont have wine installed in your OS, install it first
And.. you should start RunWinetricks(copy) from game directory

like this:
my@computer:~/.local/share/Steam$ cd ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/ja2_wildfire/

my@computer:~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/ja2_wildfire$ ./RunWinetricks_copy

Same as dna0008.
Joined the Beta channel.
Unfortunately no game files are downloaded.
Therefore it did not run.

When I install the non-beta version it's 0 bytes, when I switch to beta channel, it doesn't perform an update.

I've opted into the Linux beta as well with the same results: zero bytes downloaded, no files under ja2_wildfire, cannot start game.

Looks like the "JA2-WF Linux ENG"
Sorry, I overlooked it. Thank You cicyractu.
Now it is enabled on all pacakges. Try again.

Well, its a beta. Perhaps I should have said, will the final release be native port. Its a longshot.
Native port is not planned.

What is Your system specifications? Particularly videocard and monitor?

Moreover, if you have issues with previous setup, try to disable all of those checkboxes.
This will fix the sticking cursor problem, BUT if you miss the game window with only one click, the game will crash.
Your soultion could work. Unfortunately, on some systems it can cause more troubles, so I will see what I can do with it.

Download worked now.
First time run, wine's configuration notice window popped up a while before the game started.

Game in general runs fine and works.

Sometimes if you started a new game (new game., hire a soldier, go to map mode, quit game, do it again) over and over, after 3rd or 4th time your locked into map mode and can't reach the lower button (menu button, time arrows etc.). Looks to me like a Wildfire bug in general and has probably nothing to do with the port.
It's the same behavoir @wintermute described in the Linux beta accouncement.

Also many thx for supporting Linux.

Thanks a ton!
