Jagged Alliance 2 - Wildfire

San Mona Civilians
Saw a discussion on hostile civilians back from the 5th may. I have the same sort of question but appear to have created no triggers.

I entered San Mona from Chitzena side. Various civilians are hostile. In case it has any bearing, To the direct left of San Mona (grid c4) was an area with a 2 car open garage, a couple of what looked to be warehouses, toilet block. Around 15 blue shirts attacked me from the start. I don't even have the skills to get into the locked doors so never cleared the map and definitely couldn't be considered for thievery.

Anyway, I get to San Mona and stand in the street then these civilians initiate combat. Theyre wearing a collection of outfits. So just to be clear, I didnt ransack homes, didnt innitiate combat, just entered the map and stood in the street. Frank went hostile as well, and it appears Tony has as well. Obviously thats not going to do much for the long term health of my campaign without selling arms to Tony.

What exactly has happened here?

I see a lot of responses to various topics in htese discussions so Im hoping for some clarification. Oh, and reloaded the map and tried again in case it had glitched - identical situation

Look, there is a new type of civilians in the Wildfire, the Mafia. Read previous topics for details. They are armored civilians hanging around in some urban and rural sectros that does not participate in you fights with soldiers before you hurt them. This, I presume, happened in Chitzena when you capturer the Port.

Thanks for getting back to me. So you think Ive brassed up someone attached to Kingpin in Chitzena?

I clearly have to restart and I can see this becoming amazingly frustrating. I'll have to give it some thought. I never attacked anyone who didnt attack me first. I avoided explosives and reloaded if barrels were hit (because i couldnt tell who casualties may have been, if any). I get what youre saying and it ties in to what Ive read but I ddint think I'd triggered anything. I clearly messed up at some stage. Drat.

Thanks

He doesn't just think - he is RIGHT.

They are from the Kingpin group. You will be attacked by mafia mobs if you hit (including accidents) anyone from their group, regardless if it was an NPC or just unnamed guard, or if you was caught stealing their belongings. And once you clashed with them somewhere, they immediately become hostile in every sector of the map.

In addition, I have set the scripts the way that after some progress in the game, Mafia will attack you even if you do them nothing hostile. The Mafia does not want any change in the status quo and you are the changes, which can affect their business so - you are to be destroyed...

Oh! Seems that you are the Romuald Nagaev, one of the game's creators!

Can I ask you to read my guide on the Wildfire (in Russian) where I have made some hypothesis about game mechanics and confirm or disprove them?

Thanks!

Ahhh. Nice change about the status quo. Very, very neat attention to detail. So can I presume that mean I lose access to Tony at that time?

And let me take the time to thank you for your enormous work. I love the life still breathing in these old games that are far and away more complicated than the watered down crap we mostly get these days. Salute.

I just started this game recently, and this could be a very late reply. Just leaving it here for any other people could see this.

By making some progress in the game, mercs would know kingpin has some agreement with the queen. Those mafias becoming hostile is somewhat reasonable.

Actually for the access to Tony. After you first meet tony, the guy in front of him would you stop you for the next visit. He will say Tony is away for few days or something. If you use some 'special' way to get pass him (like destroy the side wall with TNT), you may visit
Tony. But if you go with the flow of the game and attack other city, the frequency of visiting Tony is little.

However, if you kill Kingpin right away, you get a Steyr AUG from Kingpin, and killing Tony would give you 2 more Steyr AUG (That's how many I've got). Those are pretty good return, and you won't actually miss Tony (LOL)
