Really boils down the essence of 3D platforming. Very fun and creative.

A strange little game. It's a pretty basic 3D platformer with some shooter elements in which you are (possibly) an android collecting computer chips. To be clear, the 'question everything you see and trust nothing you hear' descriptor made me think there'd be a lot more secrets/meta game stuff than I found, which doesn't necessarily mean it's not there. And the game's a bit janky at times.
That being said, I found this to be a charming game with an interesting world to discover. Soundtrack is great, enemy designs are so interesting, and the overall ambiance was really good. I was kind of annoyed at the big empty levels before I realized there was a hoverboard, and I was kind of annoyed by the shooting before I realized there was an aim button. So yeah, look at the controls first lol.

I got it on sale, but I probably would have payed a little more for it. I certainly don't mind supporting an experimental indie game dev, but it is only about 4 hours long. Not too tough to get all the achievements, either.

So yeah, it gets a recommend from me. I enjoyed my time with it and look forward to future projects.

The way the movement options are balanced out against the scale of the environments is pretty smart.

Master class in minimalistic game design, buuuut a kind of forgettable game..?

A few weeks passed since I've completed Automaton Lung and I don't remember much of it now. But what I do remember is constantly present feeling of the desire to explore while playing. What mysteries does this weird and dream-like world posess? Will I learn anything about anything? Let's find out!

So the strong point of Automaton Lung is it's puzzle-y nature. If you want to collect something you need to figure out how to do it first. You have a gun, a jetpack (kinda) and hoverboard. Every one of these tools have several uses and hidden mechanics which you need to figure out. The atmosphere here is cool, some enemies are fine, some are annoying, the shooting is fine, some rooms with chips in them are basic, some are frustrating, but most of them are clever and intricantly designed so it's always fun to find secret chips and weapons.

The game is too mimimalistic story-wise in my opinion and that's why I forgot about it right after I've finished it. Your only motivation to do anything is driven by gameplay and sense of wonder but it ultimately leads to very open to interpretation narrative. The ending and locales give you some directions for what to think about all this, but it's not enough to get anything out of it really. Does it need to mean something? No, but it would be even more transcendent if it did which is always welcomed.

Still a very interesting, mysterious and sexy experience and a good puzzle-platformer-adventure-shooter thing for anyone who got tired of basic gameplay loops

Video games are incredible at creating abstract dreamscapes, I've had a lot of dreams and vague memories of them, I saw this game and thought "hell yeah", I play this game and think "hell yeah"

One of those games that reminds me how much I love exploring video game worlds. Sort of like Metroid, sort of like Yume Nikki, sort of a collectathon... if any of those things appeal to you, I recommend it.
