Well first each character have their own story but when you cap lvl 60 practically are same for group. In same line each character have a better lore than other for e.g silvie have better than yuri, and J better than silvie.
I played rusty hearts too, and sincerely RH is the best anime game ever at world, It is 10000% better than this one. This ok have fun things, *inncesary ecchi, but fun for spend some time.
Get all yellow quests for to get the FULL LORE, green and blue are plus quets.
In the early stages of the game, one of the issues you're gonna deal with is your MP bar running out quickly. Many new players think its the character's fault for draining much mana/magic when this isn't actually true at most. All characters suffer this issue at present until they get to modify their stats to suit their needs.
This is why the game hands you out that purple potion (back then it used to be orange for HP and blue for MP, now its all in one as purple.) Those potions have their own respective levels and most of the time you don't get to use them at all. Don't forget to use it even if it only means to replenish either of your HP or MP. Potions are one of the abundant resource of consumables in this game. You'll expect to keep using em most of the time at higher end sector. Think of it as a CONSUMABLE SKILL when that's how its supposed to be.
You're actually meant to drug your character along the way til its drug independent from potions and consumables. Once you've reached high level, majority of the potions you got for free via quests won't be used so always use em.
Lastly, this is why there's PASSIVE SKILLS, Check me out by pressing the "K" key and allocate your Skill Points (SP) to Skill Cost Reduction as this passive skill will only drain only a small amount of your MP by then. Each time you level up, your MP bar increases so you'll have to undo this skill points as soon as your MP independent too!
Skill spamming isn't a bad habit, its how you play the game especially in PvP. This is why you have BASIC ATTACKS for using the Z key but in end game, you'll barely use it because you have large amount of MP in your arsenal.
Anyway, your point is that you want to have a "challenge" instead of just nuking everything with your Bus correct? If that's the case, you might have to wait until you get to two locations: "Planar Gate" and "Refit Sky Ship". I shall explain why.
Refit Sky Ship (story area)
This is the first place where an "actual boss with actual strategy needed to kill her" exists. I won't spoil you for the story so you might as well keep playing. Point is, this is where the game starts to have a bit of difficulty (and grindy :D).
Planar Gate (extra area, mid-lategame) (level 56 necesarry to enter...I think)
This is where you'll first encounter "Raidbosses" (if that made you happy, congrats). Planar Gate is also where you'll start to recieve mid-lategame modules (the three boxes at the top), cores (the single one), trinkets (the 6 a the bottom), and amplifiers (will be unlocked once you reach International Airport).
After Planar Gate, there's the Dimensional Ops Center. Another area with a raidboss.
After Dim Ops, there's the final place which holds the "true raidbosses", the Purification Corps (the one below Planar Gate in the hub selection screen). This is where, in my opinion, PvE becomes REALLY interesting (aside from Yod, ♥♥♥♥ that guy)
TL;DR
Until Refit Sky Ship, you're basically immortal. Unless you somehow manage to ♥♥♥♥ yourself up.
Except for J (doesn't have mana), Levia and Soma all the others have mana issues until you get some decent gear/pnas/chips/etc... Attacks with Z recover MP.
All the missions in the Special Ops are fairly hard early.
I would say to just take it slow, learn the combos, have some fun, I am a new player myself, game is fun
I'll eventually get more MP recovery from passives and the like, so I should take advantage of the rapid recovery in story missions to practice my combos instead of worrying about forming bad habits with the skillspam, by the sound of it.
Honestly, that makes sense!
I usually try to avoid too much potion use in games, but I guess the potion prices in Closers are more like the Maplestory days of "yes stockpile hundreds of potions" and less like ye olde DFO's days of potions only being purchasable from players, aka "strategize as if you don't have them, for emergencies only." But here, yeah, I can absolutely hotkey them and go ham. Works for me.
Thanks, everyone!
(Also, Waryth, your username looks familiar. Were you recruiting for a guild the other day? I was AFK on Levia (Code name Eresmira, if that sounds familiar) and came back to a guild invite. I declined since I don't know if I'll commit to continuing to play or not, I want to give the game some more time before I decide. I also haven't accepted the friend request for the same reason; I'd feel guilty if you put effort into helping me out and then I just quit.)
There's no MP recovery in passives but rather Skill Cost Reduction passive skill named "Strength Control".
Later on the story line upon lvl 60+, you'll get to the Planar Gate hub where you can unlock another set of game mechanics called PNA. Its another stat buffing mechanic similar to passive skills. Here you can modify your MP bar's capacity or have MP regen that you're looking for. I'm pretty sure once you get to this level, your MP bar is already high enough at that level to run out of mana anymore and you won't be needing those.
Everyone does that too but what you just said is the game consumable mechanics in a nutshell.
Hmm, that's pretty much me the other day. I'm the Crew Leader of the infamous Top 3 crew in the previous ranking and I happened to make another secondary crew to have an extension.
There's 2 ways people perceive crew in this game, #1 is thinking its a guild and #2 its a clique for new players. Anyways... If you weren't aware, joining a crew gives certain buffs that can help you progress faster and double loot gains.
I understand your point about this matter but in my perspective, helping out people in this game is what makes it fun and interesting. Its because as soon as you learn the game mechanics, this is where everything is going to be easy, have fun and have a long lasting experience. You wouldn't enjoy this game if you weren't asking help especially in this forum to learn new things considering how complicated this game is.
I normally don't join guilds in these games unless I specifically have friends in them - and even then, most of my friends no longer play F2P MMOs for various reasons. So this means that I either make my own with friends I make in-game (which doesn't happen much in games like Closers with Instanced Dungeons that don't really have much player interaction outside of friends lists and crews) or don't join them at all. I just feel like there's pressure on me to keep up or whatnot. The thing is, though, that these kinds of games do eventually get boring without friends to play with, and the endgame is all party based or PVP. A crew is the perfect solution to that.
Although, I've recently been made aware of how powerful networking can be in ANY online activity, whether it's streaming, Youtubing, or in MMOs. Working together with others creates opportunities for growth, and that's a good thing. I used to think "Random guild/crew/league/alliance/etc invites won't work out because you don't even know the kinds of people being invited" but apparently others have had good experiences this way and I've just been a party pooper about it.
I'm not going to pretend to be some kind of combo god, but between my experience in games like Dungeon Fighter Online, and Closer's very forgiivng MP system and relatively short cooldowns, I do think I could see myself playing this long term, so maybe I'll seriously rethink my opinion on joining a crew.
