Acquiring PG gear?

So I got to the Planar Gate which looks pretty much like the end game for now, kinda get my ass handed to me on DR 5, and Mephisto and Vitus also kicked me pretty hard, neither are impossible mind you, I just have to sharpen up a little, as it is probably the toughest content I've faced thus far.
My main question is how hard is it to get the PG gear? Is it just hard, or hellishly hard? To have an idea of how much time I'm going to invest on this. Currently lvl63 means in 2 levels I should probably start aiming to get the super gear, and work my way up to get the extreme gear. What are your experiences on this?

are you talking about just regular lvl 70 pg gear or PG75 gear. PG70 gear is like maybe less than an hour to get becuase theres the quest that gives u it, u just gotta do all the PG5 Bosses.

Super Gear and Extreme gear took me a full week (each) to get just because of RNG/daily limits. It can be very difficult if you're undergeared, but you're better off continuing the story instead of dwelling at PG for long. You'll eventually come back to it due to the new expansion and to get Extreme Gear if you're unable to do Subjugation: Irina / David training missions.

do the planar quest they give free stuff / gears and also afaik singularity abyssal throne or ancient monster domain also drop good gears to help you out. recon is enough.

Yeah I already cleard every quest in PG, got my ass handed to me on DR5 bosses, probably not coming back until I'm done with the rest of the story. The free super gear is a great boost though
