This game is so dead

I installed the game after not playing for a while. I wanted to do some casual matches , i get matched with the same person 5 times in a row , a level 900+ playing abusing an OP character in unranked mode. This game is such a joke.

Yup, sadly this is 100% the case. Just a handful of fanboys left at this point, doing daily rounds in this hub trying to defend Cygames' honor lol.

To be blunt, casual matches are not where you should go unless you're playing the game super seriously. This is the case in any arcsys game, even for dbfz in its prime with thousands and thousands of players. Top level players just use the mode for practice, I'd recommend playing ranked or lobby games.

ranks in casual don't matter so you'll get matched with whoever else is in the queue

But i don't want to go ranked , i didn't play since a while so i need to do some training before hoping into ranked. I tried anyway , i waited 10min with no match found. I'm in EU. Tried with a char that has A1 rank , no match found.. So yea i think this game is dead sadly

Ranked or lobby matches are really where you should be even if you feel rusty, you are significantly more likely to find players at your level that way. Also I never have to wait that long as a North American player, bit this is the deadzone between seasons so wait another week and it should have more players.

Average population on Japan server is still kinda ok.Ranked queue times is about 20-150s on primetime.Lower tiers like A,B,C etc are straight up dead already.Lobbies on some evenings have less than 25 ppl.
Main problem is decline of casual/normal/average players.Staying in S/S+ rank is getting worse and worse everyday, as those ranks being infested with alot of purple high skilled smurfers.MMS in GB wasnt even close to be "fair" from start,but now - its complete garbage.Every single competitive game in a world have a death sentence for smurfing, but GB straight up allows and encorages it for high tier players to go on vacations against low skilled persons.Insanely bad design.

Lets see how season 2 perform in 2025.

eh, I guess living next to Japan has its perks. I guess plenty of matches for most fighting games, including this one. A game that's REALLY dead is KOF15.
