Question regarding arcade stick use
I was really looking forward to getting into a new fighting game with m,y trusty old stick. And this game looked like it was designed from the ground up to be accesible to old farts and casual players.
I have now spend 30 minutes trying to set a comfortable button layout but its just not happening. No matter how i do it the game expects me to push really inconvenient combinations of buttons at the same time.

Gamepad controls seem to be centered around pressing shoulder buttons and triggers which is of course easy to do in combination with the gamepads face buttons.

So am i right in assuming this game is best played with a gamepad or am i missing something. Playing a fighting game like this on a gamepad feels weird...

What is the general oppinion of this?

The game is very pad friendly. Not using simple inputs will be disadvantage at times, so better just accept it right from the start.
However I use this kind of button layout on my arcade stick and it's pretty good:

L M H Dash
U S Block

Then I qcf + S/US for supers. S is pretty close to M/H so I don't have to do much gymnastics for different skill variants. L doesn't do anything for skills so it doesn't matter.

Thank you for your input. I’ll try your layout.

Excuse my question but it seems that "Super Skybound Arts" are not possible with this layout. Doing a "Skybound Art" is pressing L + U + S.
But for a "Super Skybound Art" you would have to press the "Throw Button" as well.
As we are already pressing the button combination for throw to do the "Skybound Art" it doesnt register as a "Super Skybound Art"

Long story short: How do you do "Super Skybound Arts" with your layout?

Another thing: "Preset B" seems to be aimed towards fight sticks.

Skybound Arts and Super Skybound Arts can both be done by just pressing the "Blazblue Button Layout" all at once with this layout.
That this is even a problem surprises me.

Throw-button is the same as pressing L+M, so you can do it by pressing L+M+U+S.
I you have technical commands enabled you can do SBA with qcf+S ans SSBA with qcf+SU.

I second the Hori Stick.
In my experience there are pretty good hori sticks that come quite cheap. Easy recommendation if you are short on money or dont play THAT much.

Ah thanks as long i have my job it's ok. But it most be better then the xbox 360 controller i use. It works, it's just that the inputs mess up alot when i use it. Got to B rank with it atleast. But its nice to try something new.

Oh man. I just noticed you can get "technical inputs" in training. I just can do a special move input instead of pushing a hundred buttons at the same time. smh
I think ill go with the old blazblue 4 button input and just do skill and block on close by buttons.

i use U bottom left H next to that Throw button next to that top left is L next to that is M and next to that is Guard/ spot dodge dash macro is next and on the farthest right is special button since the the double quarter circle forwards dont work well in this game for me.

For having played both on DualShock 4 and Hori Fighting Stick Alpha: the game is very pad-friendly in its inputs, though as usual your mileage may vary depending on personal preferences and which controller you use. For example Zycleren mentioned using an Xbox 360 controller, and from my personal experience it has one of the worst d-pads I've ever used. It plays great with a DualShock 4 though.

And for anyone wondering whether they should switch to an arcade stick or not: it all depends on personal preference, how much you're willing to put into it, and how often you intend on bringing your controller with you. There's no wrong answer here except control schemes that are not tournament-legal, assuming you even want to get there.

Aside from that I have the same layout as NohevaMortti on my stick. I almost never use the Dash and Throw buttons and instead rely on the old 66 input for dash and L+U for throws, so these buttons got pushed on the side. However I wanted L M H on the same line, U below them, and easy access to the Skill and Block buttons; the Skill one in particular is a lifesaver when using 22x or SBA/SSBA (and even then I often input them the hard way). It took me some time to adapt since I started with the default Type A layout, but it feels great now that I'm used to it.
