L - M - H - Guard
Skill - U - Grab - dash
so for specials i can use my thumb and any finger for the various levels, for sba's i hit skill and grab, for ssba's i hit the bottom left three buttons at once
L - M - H - Grab
U - Skill - Guard - Dash (Mostly unused)
This is the most intuitive I feel because I use technical inputs so the majority of the time I fingers will hover over L, M, H and U.
Using your middle finger or pinky to press Skill/Guard for the dp confirms, dodge or crossup guards is much easier.
Grab - L - M - Skill
Dash - U - H- Guard
I know my layout is a bit weird but I got my reason lol
L Gu X X
I don't have dash or throw bound because I use those buttons for training shortcuts or discord PTT
L-M-SK-TH
U-H-Dash-Guard
Close to default, I think the only change is swapping Dash and Guard.
Still trying to figure out how I'm going to navigate this, main struggle at this point are the True short cut SA, and Ultimate Skills.
I've mostly just using command inputs for those for those most part (for SA I use the single QCF Shortcuts)
U - H - Guard - Throw
This setup makes the most sense to me (without swaying too far off from default and from what I am used to) because I plink dash with the pinky into 6L or 6M a lot. Also with this skill button position I can use it with any attack for quick access to any special or skybound art. I still do not like the guard button below the skill button because it would make sense to have simultaneous access to skill and guard.
These 8-button layout games mess with my brain. I just found a somewhat tolerable setup for MK1 and GBFVSR flips the table for me.
One could also go for something like:
L - M - H - Skill
U/Throw - Dash - Throw/U - Guard
or:
L - M - H - Dash
Skill - Throw - U - Guard
Any setup I go for I would make sure that I always hit the Skill and Dash buttons with the same finger because I have to combine them with the attack buttons.
U-S-G
I don't use the 4th button in each row so I didn't bother mapping it.
M+H is easy to press for brave mechanic
The top row is how I have it for games like Street fighter in terms of order of strength
I only use skill button with specials if I need a quick DP so the M and H button is mapped close to the skill button. If I need medium strenght thumb + middle. Heavy is index+ring.
Also, if I need to do easy super skybound art U and S are right next to each other which makes that nice to reach as well with index and middle.
L-M-B-Throw
U-H-SK-Dash
Same as most others I don't really use the last 2 buttons, having SK near U and H make it easy for fast input reversals
Guard__________ L - M - H - U
______________Sk-RageStk-Dash-X
____________Grab
Guard feels awkward on left pinky, but dodge reactions are much faster with dedicated/resting finger.
Currently using:
Throw
L-M-H-na
Skill - U - na - dash
Block
Unironically I think much harder games are mechanically easier because of this. I also dislike having to hold forward to dash attack lol, I always let go of it like a frame before I click the button.
Circle and dp motions are always painful on pad. So no. This game is not made for pad.
If you want to optimize damage you need motions.
