Localization.

To start I want to say that I am having fun with this game. The online modes are a good time, even the throw away mini games. Ranking up and collecting things is a feel good experience in this, and while sometimes it feels like the rewards don't weigh the same in value as the achievement, I still find it fun getting new things...

But let's talk a second about this English localization. The entire script is rewritten, only the very basic portion of personalities of some characters survive the localization (Yuel JP and English are two completely different characters personality wise). I'm finding it extremely hard to finish the story mode campaigns because of how terrible the localization is... I really want to care about the story because it's pretty long and the cutscenes are nice, and I can't because of it's current state in a language I can read. Anyone else feel the same?

Yeah, I didn't notice it too harshly but I did notice more than a few moments where the English script raised my eyebrows. Honestly, and perhaps frustratingly, it seems pretty in line with the English script of the original browser game...which weirdly isn't even really available in the US.

I really wish we could get more respectful localisations across the board. Been playing Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince and I'm so glad it has a Japanese voice option just because it highlights how bad Dragon Quest localisations are.

Wrong, browser GBF is available globally (if you were looking for a play store app that's a very common misconception; it is played through a chromium browser on PC like Brave, or with Skyleap on mobile which is a dedicated browser optimized for GBF and accessible from QooApp).

I also feel GBVS has pretty poor localization. As someone who has been playing GBF for years I can tell you it's not the same team translating this, as the browser's TL is way more faithful and less cringe. Apparently it's XSeed that handled VS... That explains a lot.

Nah, XSEED only published the first Versus and weren't involved with Rising.

Huh interesting, so they did do something with the offices they opened in the US after all...
I can't say if it's any better than having XSeed manage it, though.

Why buy this garbage? IF the localization is this ♥♥♥♥ why not just buy the Japanese version? It's not like your gonna get an accurate idea of the story and the characters are beyond butchered it seems.

on the one hand, I do feel learning the japanese language would be a godsend to play games as they were originally intended... if not for the fact that they are also getting changed at the source.

That aside, I also feel it's a bit unreasonable for people to suddenly support the japanese version if they dislike the localized one so much,
