No Controller Support, deleted it right away
What a joke. It's 2023 and we still get modern games on PC that don't support controllers at all especially for a fighting game.

What, are you trying to use a Japanese NegCon through a third party chinese PS1 converter or something?

My stick worked out of the box, and so did my PS4 pad.

My PS5 controller, snackbox, razer ktisune, hitbox, keyboard all work

I connected my Sony PS4 controller and Steam says that it doesn't support it on the main page of the game. When I launched the game, it stopped working.

If you really need to you can force steam's controller support in the settings, you can play a game with basically anything that can send an electrical signal these days

I'm actually having controller issues, but it's not that the game doesn't support controllers, it's just bugged lol.

you have to plug in your controller or it won't work

My Hayabusa fighting stick and my PS5 worked instantly.

The only controller bug I've encountered so far is when you launch another game off steam, the controller stops working in Rising, but keyboard controls will still work.

vitrix pro fs works just fine

The in-game " Auto Icons " setting and the general controller support as a whole are bugged right now. I think X-input devices specifically. (Xbox controllers or 3rd party controllers that use the X-input protocol)

You have two options:

1. Simply enable Steam Input

This will send your inputs from your controller (or fightstick/hitbox) to the Steam client, to your game. Steam basically emulates an Xbox controller. This will fix your problem and give you the correct icons in game as well. (normally you're stuck with keyboard and mouse icons due to the auto icon bug)

Downside: It adds 1 sometimes 2 frames of input lag, it's barely noticeable, but it's there. (for any of you super sweaty FGC people)

2. Do what I did and just turn on Steam Input, start up the game, map the controls to whatever you want in controller settings (normally you're stuck on default controls due to the bug)

Then set the Icons setting from " Auto " to " Controller " then close the game, turn off Steam Input, launch the game again, then when you get to the title screen, press A on your controller (NOT YOUR KEYBOARD or the game with make that player one) and you should have be able to move on the main menu with your controller and the correct controls while still maintaining X-input so no input lag. Problem solved.

I tried to be as descriptive as I can and there's like two more nuances to this bug(s) but yeah, cheers. lol

It's funny how vanilla GBVS says " partial support for controllers " while GBVSR says " no support for controllers " so take that message with a grain of salt, it's just an oversight.

It's not a " you " problem, its an objective fact that GBVSR needs its controller support worked on, because you can boot up vanilla GBVS right now and it would work no problem. And I literally just explained everything in my post above. I fixed the issue, but it indeed exist.

*Me putting a Controller somewhere in the house*
Steam: Controller detected, you can now use it!

Never had any issue, check your Settings.

How do people equate their controller working to every controller working ever???
Like there are more than 2 controllers on the market, I built my controller and I have to scour the internet for a fix, while some nerd is like "Mine worked must be you being dumb". Like that solves any problems. Please keep these threads with actual useful info so people can actually get this fixed, because it is extremely annoying to spend hours on this, and still have it not work.
