How does combat compare X360 to PC?
I just downloaded the Xbox 360 demo of Zeno Clash 2 and, while the graphics/sound are great, the combat feels strangely sluggish. There is an unnaturally long time between the pull of the trigger and the landing of the punch, making combos virtually impossible to time correctly. Ghat also moves really, really slow as soon as he even enters combat, diminsihing the speed and flow that made the first game's melee so captivating (although this wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the first problem). Reading reviews, no one complains about these issues, leading me to believe that either a) the demo or b) the Xbox version of the game is inferior. Has anyone out there played both X360 and PC versions and could tell me how the gameplay compares?

I wouldn't say that the XBox version is inferior if you compare the controls using a Gamepad, but you can get better FPS on PC which could improve a bit the experience. What is quite better on PC is the graphics (fully dynamic lit environments) and detail level of environments. We had too many memory restrictions on consoles... The PC version is he best one.

In ZC1 the entire combo system is automatized by holding the punch button, where in ZC2 we introduced timed combos. A big part of pulling off the combos in ZC2 is understanding that attacks are queued after each button press, much like a figher (think Street Fighter). The combos are actually pretty easy to pull off on a 360 when you get the hang of it. You might find it easier to do with a mouse, but it shouldn't be hard with a controller.

Ooooh, a developer! Thank you for explaining that to me, I've never played Street Fighter, etc. I tried the demo again, and I'm much more competent with the fighting now. It feels like ZC2's combat system trades the original game's fast-paced and brutal smackdowns for more controlled, tactical fights. I didn't think I would like that at all, but it's actually pretty well done, though I sometimes miss that supercharged wind-up punch (s + right click :D).
I will, of course, opt for the PC version. That lighting...
