this or the original?
ZC2 is on sale. and from some reson never saw the original going on the weekly deals.

why?

is it better? how? is it advisable to play the sequal without the original?

the game looks very interesting but i have seen mixed reviews from all spectrums. people saygn the sequal was much better, people saying the original was much better.

what is your thought?

The events of the first game are related in the tutorial, which is recommended to be played to learn combat combos. I once tried the demo to the first game but had issues running it. It's not a long game, but if you enjoy first person brawlers and unusual stories, I think it's worth playing.
I'd say definitely first game first, then if you want more, get the sequel

The first game is OK to get some of the story, but to me the second game is 100 times better than the first as well as the first being WAY too short.

They both have their strengths. Zeno Clash II is a longer game.

It might be too late to change your mind but much of Zeno Clash 2's magic relies upon the player being familiar enough with Zeno Clash 1. If you have any interest at all in understanding the protagonist, his motives, and how the setting is changed through his choices then DO NOT play Zeno Clash 2 without having first played Zeno Clash 1. The gameplay is fun in either if you just want a straightforward first-person-brawler but few titles warrant the attention to the surrounding narrative and other artistic merits on the level that both Zeno Clash 1 and 2 manage.

This is one of the few cases where I wouldn't recommend a player just skip to the sequel (As I do when telling gamers without a strong taste for RPG's to skip Witcher 1 and start with 2) or begin a franchise in a stronger, possibly more up to date later entry.

Tropes and cliches occur often enough (find the world-saving relic, rebel against the empire, expose a religion's corrupt and powerful clergy, fight wearing a flashy hair-cut) that players can easily understand and piece together any given game-franchise world without having experienced any events in the preceding installements. Doesn't work that way for Zeno Clash.
