But this game... I don't feel like fighting against those combos and ragdoll randomness.
I'll play through it next weekend, I'm pretty confident me and my friend will have fun anyways ^^
What part is keeping you from advancing in the first tutorial? It should be pretty straight-forward unless you are encountering a bug.
1) The two handed special attack (which consumes meter) into uppercut -> kick -> forward special.
2) The combo string which ends in an uppercut -> kick -> forward special. This second combo basically requires you to alternate left and right punches (at least once) so that the last one (hold attack) is an uppercut instead of a regular strong punch. In other words after 1 or 2 punches the next strong will be a straight one. But if you do 3 the next strong will be an uppercut.
Example: click right mouse, click left mouse, click left mouse, hold left mouse (4 attacks ending in the launcher uppercut)
Neither of these complex combos are in any way necessary to beat the game (I think less than 10% of the people who beat the game used them).
Thanks a lot for the answers anyways
About that tutorial, I remember seeing that a 3-hits combo while alterning between left and right would allow me to chain into an uppercut (4th strong punch). But each time, the combo broke and that 4th holded punch was simply a strong punch. I tried many timings (during about 15 mins), none worked. You're saying I should do 4 normal hits and then hold ? Pretty sure that's not what was in the tutorial...
right mouse -> left mouse -> left mouse -> hold left mouse
but it can be:
left mouse -> left mouse -> right mouse -> hold left mouse
left mouse -> right mouse -> left mouse -> hold right mouse
right mouse -> left mouse -> right mouse -> hold right mouse
etc...
As long as you switch from left to right during the combo, you should be able to get to the point where you can *in the 4th attack* hold the button to get an uppercut. The tutorial is just teaching (rather poorly) one of the possibilities.
Basically the rule is that if you always attack with the same hand (left or right) you cannot do as many hits as if you switch hands during the combo. So when I was saying that you could easily play like ZC1, it was true because if you just click, click, click with either mouse button you will get a basic 3 hit combo. Remember that you can interrupt the chain before the fourth hit to get a straight strong punch instead.
We always lurk around the forums as much as possible during updates, or sales because we know that a lot of people will be asking questions in the forums. I honestly don't know why this isn't the norm for game developers - especially for big companies with community managers. I'm not even a community manager... I am one of the founders of the studio, and also co-lead game designer. I really care about what people have to say about our games - be it positive or negative. By communicating directly with the people we can learn about what things we have done well and where we can improve in the future. The tutorial of ZC2 was definitely a weak spot of the game (and you aren't the first to point it out). All feedback is appreciated so thanks for dropping by and posting your issue.
It was just a fps question after all. Upgraded my comp and combos were actually very easy to do. I guess it just didn't register well with my old 20ish fps.
