Achievement hunting!

How goes everyone's achievement hunting? Quite enjoyed playing through the game a few times and finding them. Have 40 of 45 with only these left (Spoilers ahead) -
- Guess that works well
- Big Brain
- Loving Husband
- Decontamination
- This has gone too far

The last two are related to finding the kettles and I have found 9 out of the 10 with the last one being number 9 and needing to explode it according to the hint in the achievement description. Judging from what number it is and where 8 and 10 are found, this one needs to be exploded I think somewhere near where you first use the EMP device at the end of the Mushroom Kingdom and before riding the elevator to get to where your office is. Could be somewhere in the cave area where you lure the shadow man into three EMPS but have gone over the whole area.

'Loving husband' is reading emails which isn't that inherently difficult, just that if you die, have to read them again in that area that you died in as I'm pretty sure it wont save progress. Probably start another fresh run and look into this. I don't think there is any documents or terminals to read emails off the beaten track to far but of course there could be and I just haven't found them yet.

'Big brain' i cant figure out, even though spent hours mucking around in that room with the door and camera above it as well the lead up to this room. Unless to skip this room as well as the coloured rooms, the answer might lie in the hotel puzzle somewhere. Got the feeling this one is simple and staring at the player right in the face.

'Guess that works well' I cant figure out also. Before you battle and destroy the Shepard, there is a scene where the shadow man welcomes himself into the shack and you have to run out and open a portal using the energy from the Shepard's' lantern. He actually drops it in the shack when the shadow man tackles him (lol) and you can pick it up and run with it before he respawns further down the track. But unsure to what other device and what artefact this achievement is referring to.

If anyone has any insight for these achievements it will be much appreciated. I might do a guide once I have all the answers and if no-one has done one yet so feel free to use this thread as a resource if this gets some good info. Can answer achievement related questions if you need as well. Will keep hunting over the next few days til the holidays.

for 'guess that works well' you need to activate an orb in his shack using the emitters by picking up the orb and putting it against the emitter

Kettles found so far -
#1 - Right at the start of the game in the security room to the right after entering the complex, on a table.
The fire needed to burn it is just down the corridor and to the right before entering the room where you need to navigate across the electrified water.
#2 - This one is in the overturned cafeteria in the habitat section where you need to access Director Sutherland's terminal. Right next to the burners you need to absorb the red energy from to progress further, on a kitchen bench.
#3 - This one is in the reactor area. The room with the gamma puddle on the floor you need to absorb there is a walkway up to another door which needs to be unlocked from the other side to progress further. The kettle is on the other side of the walkway which can be accessed by jumping across the gap on top of the railing or moving a container to the edge and using that to get some height to jump across. The fire to burn it is the big furnace in one of the rooms close by where the stick creatures are in containers.
#4 - The shack kettle is easily found inside the shack where you first come across Shepard. You have to enter and exit this shack 3 times for the story to progress like a limbo area and the third time you need to absorb the fire in the bucket on the ground to get through a window to get out. This third time the kettle is high up on a cupboard in the corner on the room.
#5 - This kettle is found in the Shepard's house puzzle area, specifically in the ice dimension where you open up the alternate path to progress further. The room across from the bridge where you blind the camera and take the green energy to slow down the moving bridge, the kettle is in the corner of this room. There is a big furnace in one the rooms back in Shepard's house to burn this kettle.
#6 - This one is found in the mushroom entry area just after getting the anti-gravity boots where you are supposed to jump down a large opening and power up a terminal to open a door further back. If you look across the gap across from the large opening, the kettle will sit on the other side and you will need to jump down, power the large gravity well to full blast and shoot all the way back up to the other side of the opening to get to it. The fire to burn this one requires some backtracking to the start of this area where you hit a switch that caused a fire to start in a bucket.
#7 - This is found in the mushroom kingdom close to the flamethrower on one of the islands in the first area. Once you power the gravity well close to the flamethrower, it shoots you the island that has a container to use to jam the nearby door and also another power crystal in a box needed to progress further. This island has a railing and on the left side on the railing there is a ledge where the kettle sits. Take it back to the flamethrower to burn it.
#8 - This one is right at the end of the mushroom kingdom before crossing the green bridge and falling down after the flying centipede or whatever destroys the console for the bridge. The island that activates the green bridge has a building and a few flights a stairs to traverse to get to the start of the green bridge. This kettle is on top of this building and you will need to stand on a yellow box near the gravity well and levitate it up and jump onto the roof using the teal energy. Once you have it, getting to the fire source, I found tricky as you have to backtrack a bit and get to the island used to access the gamma energy pool. There is a fire source in the building on this island used to destroy a window that you already have done.
#9 - This is the one I'm missing as I have number 10. The achievement hint is 'blow up the storm' kettle. Right before entering the caves when you detonate the emp to power up the pink crystals, the sky is quite stormy so it could be here.
The caves area has 3 emps used to slow down the shadow man and it has that water dimension which could be classed as a bit stormy, unless the description is referring to the emp 'storm', but I think this one is somewhere around these two areas.
#10 - This one is easy just in Harry's living space just before you go to the hotel dimension. The burners fire you need to progress is in the kitchen area and the kettle in on the bench next to the burners.

First off, thanks for your comments about where to find those kettles, I've been going nuts trying to find them all!

Secondly, I've been having trouble with the "Big Brain" and "Loving Husband" too. I wonder if "loving husband" might be bugged? Or you just need to look at every email religiously.

I'm also having trouble with terminal velocity. Is there are a good place for me to acquire it?

Happy I helped with those darn kettles!
I think 'Loving Husband' does mean you have to read or at least check each email and sometimes there is a slider on the console which means there is another one or two further down that could be easily missed that needs to be read for the achievement. The second and third playthroughs I died a lot looking for kettles and other achievements and sometimes I forget to look at emails again after dying in a specific section and the save point is at the start of a section, so I think I missed a few.
'Big Brain' is definitely the tough one for me at the moment. Tried a lot the other day messing with the camera on the door trying to jam the door with chairs etc. but with no luck.
'Terminal Velocity' I got right around the time you pick up the anti-gravity boots. Instead of picking them up, first walk past the room they are found to the large opening where kettle number 6 is across the opening. Just simply jump down into the opening WITHOUT the gravity boots and it should get you the achievement.

during the sheperd's shack sequence, when you encounter the apartment i saw a kettle hidden on a stove blocked by a flipped table. But it was inaccesable from what i could see and is most likely not related to the 9th kettle. this being the second apartment sequence when you need to use heat on the fungus in the hallway

I think the 9th Kettle is in the level with the EMP machines; the clue for the achievement says to "detonate" the kettle instead of burning it. I'm not sure where it could be tho, it must be well hidden.

when you go into the ocean world pocket dimension during the shadow sequence with EMPs there is a line of debris around the shallows, so it could be there

Yes, I been through all that water several times especially the outside circle of debris and couldn't find a thing though I think it would be easy to miss. I would imagine it to be sitting in or on top another object in the water and not on the ocean floor.
I have also tried to bring an object through one of the portals and perhaps levitate using teal energy up the nearest wind turbine to see if anything is up there but these two portals that lead to shallow water dimension wont let you take objects into it. This suggests you can't take objects back through to the caves so chances are the kettle isn't in here. The 'detonate' description does seem like when you find it, you leave it in one the emp rooms and blow it after leading the shadow man to that room.

I found out how to get the Big Brain achievement!

After you burn the mirror in the hotel, go back through the portal to the mushroom lab. Go out in the hallway and back to the entrance and you'll find a light source. Absorb it, return to the hotel dimension, and use it on the camera instead of going through the coloured rooms.

Side note, for the Loving Husband achievement, I think it's worth going through every computer in the game and carefully look for Grace's emails and read through them. I don't think they're just in Harry's office/apartment.

Very nice work! That light source is blink and you'll miss it type stuff. Only 3 more achievements to go! Going to do a play-through tomorrow and make note of all the Grace emails I can find. Maybe we can build off that.

Ok so unlocked 'Loving Husband' just now not 100% sure how it happened. There is zero emails between Grace and Harry until the start of the mushroom lab entry. After completing the hotel dimension, the energy absorbed from said collapsed dimension is used on a nearby mushroom to gain the teal energy to push the big container blocking the corridor. There is a terminal here with -
- 'That's me in the spotlight' 23rd June 2026
- 'RE: That's me in the spotlight' 24th June 2026

When working through the sun dimension and ending up in Harry's office and entering the code on his terminal, there is -
- 'I'm back' 3rd July 2026
- 'Stop being a d..k' 4th July 2026
- 'I need you' 17th October 2028
- 'Just some things to consider' 5th November 2030

After reading these 6 emails and what I thought was scrolling down to the bottom of each email, I went back to the first two and clicked on them again, scrolled down to the bottom of the second one and the achievement unlocked! Maybe I hadn't scrolled completely to the bottom of the second one but it seems only these 6 are needed I think.
Only one more to go and its the last kettle! Still cannot find it anywhere of the last section of the mushroom kingdom, the first room of the caves where the shadow man starts to chase you, or in the caves itself. Any small clues would be appreciated!

I found the Storm Kettle!

I can't add screenshots but basically after you get chased by the giant centipede you wind up in the area where you detonate the first EMP machine. As soon as the level starts and you get up, turn around and you'll find the kettle atop the mushroom ledges.. You can find a screenshot on my profile if you need a frame of reference.

The only problem is I'm not sure HOW to get the kettle because it's up so high.

Nice work! Omg I looked everywhere around those mushrooms but missed it. Must have to do some platforming to get up there. This is and excellent find by you!
