Female Characters?

My g/f wants to know if you can play female characters? I thought no based on a review I read, but making sure! Thanks :)

No, as of now you play as a male character.

You can play only as the male Van Helsing Jnr because of story purposes.

Oh, that's a bummer. My wife only plays videogames with me if there's a female character to play as. T_T I somehow thought it would be great if she could play as Katarina, but eh..

There is an awesome female companion that fights beside you the entire game, with alot of witty banter between the two of you, she is great.

Seems like really flawed logic to me....
You're going to miss out on a fantastic game all because you let an insignificant thing like gender get in your way?
I don't mean to insult, but it seems like a rather childish prejudice to hold against a game.

Nobody said nothing about buying or not buying the game based on the feature. I've bought the game just now and going to play it as a singleplayer experience. It's just in my case I won't be enjoying co-op part of it with my wife.

She's not what you'd call a gamer. She mostly doesn't care about them at all just says if she's going to play, she's going to be female. I feel lucky she plays with me at all, so I won't complain too much :)

I didn't play Portal 1 & 2 because I didn't want to play as a woman... seriously, who cares. Mod some breasts on Van Helsing's models and you're good to go.

i also refused to play Portal and Portal 2 due to the character being a woman. I mean, how exactly am I supposed to believe that some woman with a pea-sized woman brain made it through all those puzzles!? It makes no sense!

Its quite funny since most of the world of warcraft population that is female play male chars and males play female chars lol :P I guess it's just the gamers philosophy (Females like playing big buff as ♥♥♥♥ males), (males like looking at there chars arse while they wack the ♥♥♥♥ out of mobs haha) :)

Haha 7 of 10 of my WoW characters are female. I know most guys play female characters but I've never know a woman to play a male character and I've known quite a few.

I refused to play Mario too cuz he's a male. I wish there was a Super Maria rescue the prince instead! boohoo hoo!!
