if I use enchanter the game breaks

If I do a random enchant at the camp at the start and then go and level up an item gets stuck on screen and it won't go away. The game isn't frozen and the game reads my controller inputs but can't do anything. If I don't use the enchanter this doesn't happen. Any work arounds besides don't use the enchanter?

Hmm, don't think I've heard of that one, definitely haven't been affected by it.

Probably a missing or damaged file being loaded, you could try Steam's verification process on the game files - but don't be surprised if it doesn't detect it as it only checks the most common/vital files, not all of them.

Rarely, a faulty/broken file is hosted on a server so, esp. If you have a fast connection, you could switch Steam game servers away from your immediate locale, but stay reasonably close, and do a full game download and reinstall from there.
