Why is there a level cap anyways?
If the second part has such a low level cap too, I'm definitely not buying it.
The devs have their reasons for capping the level where they did, and I doubt that with the 2nd game being planned for release next month that they're gonna make a level cap increase for this game any time soon.
Like the guy in the other thread said: I am already at max level and didn't even finish the story once...that's kinda crappy :/
The reason for the level-cap is so that this very phenomena doesn't happen. Levels are not the carrot-on-a-stick for this game. Gear and story progression is. Besides that, there is a multiplayer and a PvP element to the game, so the developers had to set up some sort of threshold for which those aspects of the game can be balanced.
Meh. People will complain about anything, I guess.
One of the reasons I play RPGs (or ARPGs which is obviously a type of RPG) is character developement and progression. This gets partly taken away by level caps. If someone doesn't want to be overpowered, well, don't f*cking grind then?! If someone wants to be, well he should probably go grinding and make all the sidequests. I guess it should be up to the player and not up to some level cap o.O
And to name the second game as a reason for the cap is simply lazy. There are so many ways to cope with that. You could e.g. let everybody start at level 1 and give skill points for levels of the first character and a percentage of gold for his gold and so on. Or do it like mass effect or whatever, I don't care. Just don't cap the level, you are just cutting your own flesh. I never heard somebody say "Oh, I'm not going to buy xy because it has no level cap.", but I often heard it otherwise "Why are you even playing side missions? You're gonna be at the cap through half of the game?!".
Not about no level cap, I guess :P
No it doesn't. Glory allows you to modify your combat and spell-casting stats individually, as well as raising the various Resistances. So even at level 30, you have access to character progression and customization on a wide scale. Besides that, grinding for higher stat gear is the best way to progress a given character, so if you *really* want progression, then you *have* to grind for and farm up gear.
You can spend the earned glory points to obtain minor bonuses. "B"
Perks are diffferent . :)
Can't it be an option for people who want to play online?
Level capping is somewhat a tradition of all ARPG games. On our part, this was pre-planned that we will gradually increase the level caps along with the released Van Helsing sequels. In the meantime, players can level their Glory levels, similar to Paragon in Diablo 3. It is quite an effort to reach the maximum glory level, and it's quite beneficial to do so as well!
