Here you can check an end-game build.[www.dailymotion.com]
Yes, the Arcane Mecha is more of a Dexterity based class.
My first character was Thaumaturgist (on normal) with "summons" too. I went 1/5 body, 3/5 willpower, 2/5 luck for abilities and maxed those electrical spheres and pillars skills. They do quite high dps and crits while giving back hp with items having "hp per hit" bonuses. I also like enchanting for hp regen. But it was a late bloomer, until around lvl 20 it was very squishy.
I just rerolled an arcane mechanic a couple days ago, already lvl 29. It has much more survivability, mostly after I started to throw points into the ranged defense trick. I also like summoner builds in RPGs or MMORPGs. So I chose the 2 main mechanoid skills. The second one (spiders) don't do much damage. The overall dps is way less than the thaumaturgist, but the toon is very hard to kill (use the bubble trick as an emergency button). Maybe I need a better gun, since damage from bots is derived from main weapon damage. The number of invoked droids seems capped too, so I don't understand what someone said on another thread: having like 30 spiders out, or was is nerfed recently? Even with all ability points invested in dexterity, I don't feel having huge dps. Bots are a bit squishy too, even with their own regen and maxed defense (should I up their resists too?)
Other hints for a summoner build are also welcome. Like which perks to take...
Late to the party, but adding as a word of warning to any recent players (due to the incredible sale going on right now): Avoid the Arcane Mechanist UNLESS you max out your mini-bot companion skill tree.
About two hours in and you will face an IMPOSSIBLE boss battle. It's impossible to progress due to being faced with a regenerating Vrikolak that is scripted to flee around the battle area and heal. Your flamethrower and grenades can not physically match its renegerative capability and you can't pin him down into a corner.
You can google and find a few others that had posted about this specific thing.
Spare yourself the wasted hours.
