(if you have, you could try to change the working area, so that they will interact)
If you don´t have any softwood trunks in any building storage (if you had, you could deactivate the building), you ran into a dead end as no building material will be refunded, when deleting a building.
Trading is rather limited (by design), so if nobody wants to trade these softwood trunks...
Start again, do it better next time. (woodcutters should only cut grown-up trees)
Build a forester (and well), a sawmill and two woodcutters (allow to cut only grown-up trees) right at the beginning and keep them.
That´s the basics! You always need forestry in this kind of game! Never delete all woodcutters or all foresters!
You should always start with some grass area at the beginning: Build two foresters (and two wells), build two woodcutters (let them only cut grown up trees) and be happy ever after.
Yea nonsense, it just means you didn't use hardwood for quite a long time, so the softwood trees got cut, the hardwood trees remained and after a while the whole place was filled with hardwood.
I made more "Storage" as they hold up to 64 items
I then assigned the Storage to hold "Hardwood Planks", this got the sawmill going and the tree cutters chopping to make more space for planting Softwood trees and as was mentioned, assign your wood cutters to "Only chop Fully Grown Trees"
