Keep an Eye on the roadmap to see whats coming in the near future :)
Thank you for the quick reply! The game is definitely on my radar and I'm curious to see what will come in the future:)
So, yes, there is another type of enemy, different from the robbers and do I understand correctly, that you @Aseitic have played the "Beta" back then in 2023?
There are now also schemes and werewolves and you can choose the type of enemy in the map generator.
Npc Camps: Sound like one off that you dwindle down or simply beat outright in a short amount of time.
Scavs: Sound a lot like the dark tribe from S4 (Wich was like the worst installment of an Enemy, because it was simply not fleshed out, having "some" Economy whilst having none.)
At this Point it is just strange not to fully embrace this Part of the Game, as there is a demand for that. Aswell as Mechanics already in Place. From Experience with the previous installement/ recent Games in the Genre: What is there to Acchieve? What are you doing after you are set up? at some point you are simply going up against yourself wich gets less and less exciting the more experience you get. With the older Titles you had enemys to go against, granted once you knew the Ai it was more a question of beating the 1 v 4 or more. But it was its own challenge.
Sorry for the Wall of text, but i continue to observe the Game and the lack of Ai factions is the big Dealbreaker keeping me from buying it.
1. The NPC camps with Bandits, Thiefs, Ghosts and Werewolves give you plenty of excercise, since they constantly attack you during the game, also you can't just beat them like that, since you need properly strong soldiers for that and also different types for different enemies, and of course you need to recruit them first, which need lots of resources and free carriers!
2. The Scavs gather resources and use them you recruit more units, the better stuff they find, the better the units, they also can build multiple headquarters and spread out pretty quickly, so you have to act quick as well to stop them from taking over everything, which is harder when you have to deal with bandits, thieves and werewolves!
3. Did you know, the dev has only about 20 employees?? So it takes alot of time to create all these things, like AI fractions!
4. The goal in this game is simply setting up your town, complete tasks for neutral fractions and wipe out all enemies from the map! And it's not as simple as it may sound to you, because you sometimes don't have enough space to begin with, not enough resources, lots of enemies right at your borders and many other things to consider! Every game is different and already has lots of thing to do for you, since you can also set up your own game the way you want it, more enemies or more task to do, more difficult soil and landscapes, less resources . . . .
Seems like you did not play any of the Settlers Games 1-4.
to 1. No i dont know exactly because i have not baught the Game due to the reasons stated above.
2. Sounds like the Dark Tribe with a little bit of Extra Steps. Are there production Buildings like in your city? is there Housing like in your city? Is there the possibility to attack a certain area in order to hit his production chain or his housing in order to bring this "economy" to a sudden stop?
Paint it the way you want but to me it still sounds shallow.
3. I am aware. Played amazing Games by 1 Person ..... also i did not say: i expect XY i said: It is currently not for me due to the lack of .... wich i belive echos the Situation many Settlers Veterans find themselfs in. Why that matters? because the Game is promoted as "by the original creator of the Settlers" .... So yeah if you use that legacy you will be held up to the standards set by it.
4. Sounds like a simplyfiyed Settlers. Wich is not bad. But also does not woo me into buying. It is like somebody offering you offbrand Nutella whilst you got Nutella at home.
YES, I DID play the old Settlers, grew up with Settlers 2 and also played Settlers 3 & 4, but never played Settlers 1!!
I know what you mean with there being no NPC factions yet, BUT like I said, there are plenty of threads already in the game to keep you busy, especially if you play on harder difficulty! I'm pretty sure the real NPCs will come eventually, but it takes some time to create for such a small team! That does not mean you cannot enjoy the game as it is! it is also way cheaper now that when it will be finished!!
YES, the Scavs DO HAVE production buildings, mainly their huge headquarters that acts as a warehouse and also smelter/weaponsmith and they have mines as well!
LOL, you call a game "shallow" that you have never played and have no idea, what kinda features it already has!!!
I can tell you that this game has a way more complicated economy as the old Settlers, for example, there are different kinds of wood and stone, multiple resources to mine up both over- and underground like coal, iron, copper, gold nickel or silver, many different kinds of military units with different strengths, that all need different weapons and armor, many different kinds of food to turn into many different meals for your workers . . . .
Have you even watched some gameplay videos of this game??? I guess not, because then you would already know that it is very much like the old Settlers, only refinded and advanced!! And this is no offbrand Nutella, it's like the original Nutella from it's original creator, just better, but this is a stupid comparison!! But it is from the original creator of the Settlers, it's Father if you will, and his name is Volker Wertig, who really wants to keep that legacy alive and does pretty well so far!
Another thing: You could buy the game, try it out for less than 2 hours and IF you don't like it, you can give it back and get a FULL REFUND!!! Did you know that???
And if you don't like it, you can still play the new Settlers by UBISCHROTT!
