With Early Access I know that the game by now has just the basic features but the Roadmap looks both realistic and promising - e.g. I really want to try the Coop with my kids. My kids also love the game because it's really accessible and not overburdened by one million features.
Anyhow, I would agree that it's not a game for everyone. It seems really to be made for the old Settlers fans and even for a fan it's missing the PvP which may come later, but not in the near future. Anyway, it's fun enough that I spent the money. I have paid the same price for some Indie games with less playtime... but I had a good time with them. Regarding Pioneers I think that I will also play until I've seen everything and then revisit it from time to time as the updates come.
Still after 16 hours I'm happy I can finally uninstall the settlers 2 anniversary edition because this is the game I've been waiting for decades.
For me this just need a campaign and AI opponents.
25 euros for 16 hours of fun (and still going) is not a bad deal
