supply chains
I have played all sorts of city building and colony building games. I just cant quite understand the supply chains in this. Seems to be a bit of a mystery or mess. Is there a way to limit stock resource? Maybe I do not want a lot of stock raw materials but more of the end product? So less logs but more planks? or is it that the sawmill can stock an infinite amount of logs?

Each building has a max stock of output when that is reached it stops producing. You can build storages if you want more of a product stored, and some will be stored in the building that needs them (also to a max).

What are your questions about the supply chains?

thanks. I guess I just feel like it is not structured? I know it is EA, but it could be my lack of knowledge of the game and not quite understanding. Take the stone mason, does one quarry = %100 efficiency from the stone mason, or do I need two quarries per stone mason? Also I have never played a settlers game, I have seen a few videos where they mention this is similar. I have played a TON of Anno.

Well, a lot of QoL stuff is missing or maybe will never be added as that could be part of the gameplay. The latest Anno i played showed every information to the player and ... was quite boring as you just placed buildings down to match the numbers shown.

As for chains, the game shows what a building needs and produces, so check the internal storages if you need more resources or if you could double the production...a dedicated storage nearby for the needed stuff could help with long delivery paths like in other games.

Depends really, since the productivity of the quarry depends on how far its from the stone (wich also deplete so it changes). Also its ofc different when they mine just normal stone or limestone too.
In general its way less important to optimize then its in anno.
I think its ABOUT 1 to 1 between those buildings but as I said there are factors that might make it not true.
In general it makes more sense to keep an eye on the production and if you see a lack of a ressource build another building then trying to calculate any kind of optimzed ratio.
