what is a good balance for wood cutters? forest are far away take forever to get there and back.
i have built those who plant trees, but they dont get planted fast enough to get shopped down. for anyone that might have done some testing what is a good number?. 3 planters at the same time and 1 wood cutter?. or is 2 enough?. Yes Yes,, i can find new wood areas but there are Sooooooo far away that it takes forever to bring them back to town.

yea i do have a well.. also i have a hard time understanding when the people on the boat "that you get from the beginning" are spent.. you see, i build a guard tower.. and nothing happens it needs 10 guards.. when i click on the boat, it says that it has 10 guards..
I usually do 2 foresters and 3-4 woodcutters in my forest which supply 2 sawmills. I set the woodcutters to only cut grown trees. Seems to work well so far but since I build really slow I always have way too much wood stocked so I wouldn't notice trunk shortages anyway even if this setup isn't sufficient.

I had 1 planter on 2 woodcutters first (all close to each other) they did work but no real wood was forming, so I guess the cutters could have been under-used.
When I added a 2nd planter after maybe an hour there was quite some woodland in the area.

My advice (with the limited knowledge I have) would be to look for some remote area (I took some peninsula) and put down to planters and 2 cutters, plus the needed well, so they can turn the workradius into woodland.

I always use the icon bar at the top of the screen. If you hover over the guards (or anyone else for that matter) a tooltip should tell you how many of them are idle/available.
The recuitment-building can help too, has an icon showing how many of a troop type you need to recruit to fill all vacancies.
(so for example having 3 towers each needing 10 guards, and only having 16 guards, it would show a 14 there).

i dont find any kind of recuitment-building to build.
I think it really depends on the setting your wood cutters are set to.

I usually go with 1 forester + well and 2 wood cutters that are set to only cut down fully grown trees. That can be set with the icon next to the one setting the focus range at the wood cutter.
With this setup I need to disable the forester now and then to prevent having too many trees planted.

However, if you let the wood cutters cut down all trees regardless if they're fully grown or not 1 forester is not enough.
In my last game I went with 2 wood cutters on two different forests. Both set to only cut down fully grown trees and I didn't need a single forester during the first 3 hours on the map.
