Compare to "The Settlers"?

I was hoping that the latest "The Settlers" game would be available in Steam, since it was launched. But for unknown reason, they don't want to sell it in Steam. It was a huge disappointment for me.

But then, I saw an article about this game. Looks promising and very potential to completely replace "The Settlers" in Steam. So when will this game be fully released? How will it be better than the latest "The Settlers" game on full release?

Most Ubisoft titles do not appear on Steam and if they do, the Ubisoft launcher is mandatory. Apart from the name, "The Settlers - New Allies" has nothing in common with the classic Settlers series. This is a stupid RTS.
Pioneers of Pagonia, on the other hand, is the rebirth of the legendary classic in a new guise. It has recently entered Early Access and will probably not be completed before 2025.

....but it IS fully playable now, brings back fond Settlers memories, and at the current sale price, is definitely worth buying - I love it, even in its current form !

I guess he is talking about PoP and the discount it had the last week. Could be wrong though.

I mean, the developer behind POP is the inventor of the settlers, so i expect it to be massively better than the last settler games

It already is massively better then the last 2 garbagepiles that spawned out of ubisoft AND this game is still EA, so i expect it to become evene better. Ofc alot things are still missing, but tbh. i like my games the true way: *its done when its done*

Settlers 7 was OK in its own way and the History Collection is not perfect, but at least playable out of the box.

If PoP is interesting for you looking for a "Settlers-Experience" massively depends on if you are looking for a Settlers 1/2 or Settlers 3/4 Experience and even then PoP makes things different.

Check the reviews, especially the negative ones to find out what is - not - included or check my review, I think it´s making things clear.

Whenever I look for a city builder/RTS game, I have always had The Setllers (Amiga version) in mind, hoping that one day it would appear on PC and although this is still early access, I can feel The Settlers-ness in PoP, not 2-7 but The (original) Settlers, I have played them all and none could compare to the Amiga's "The Settlers", which was simple but very addictive to me - All that was needed was additions, not subtractions, The Settlers was the Essence, the bones, removing anything from that would break the game. So far the game is more like an expanded version of the original The Settlers. The trading partner feels like a dormant enemy that will eventually take over the map like we do.

In this early access version, I can see that this game has the same potential, just needs to bring back The "GEOLOGIST" for a start

I have encountered many glitches but we can surely expect that in Early access? I have read there is a "Road-Map", I need to find that...

Hi. Like us all here, we're big Settlers fans, and have been yearning for PoP for years. My favourite has got to be Settlers 2 and its 10th Anniversary version, which improved the gameplay and graphics immensely. Then Settlers 7, which I think has been underrrated. They tried to go back to Settlers with this iteration, after the garbage of 5 and 6. Whilst it wasn't a true successor, it was a great game in its own right, and I'm currently replaying it from start to a second finish, it's that good once you appreciate it's a different but acceptable and satisfying game.

This is the closest thing you will ever find to the original settlers 1 & 2. It is different yet feels very familiar and for me scratches that itch I could never really get rid of after playing the originals decades ago. It still needs some work to really make it shine but no doubt deserves the title of spiritual successor.

Don't expect it being a new settlers but a settler-like game and you will be fine.

I have the settlers New allies and It's OK but not as good as the the original settlers game. This new game the pioneers is ok but the settlers is still far the best. Ubisoft ruined the settlers series. I would only buy this pioneers If I there was nothing else to do. But this game is boring.
