Military Units the higher tier the better or nah ?
just an inquiry if training soldiers or guards has any difference , i realized that my soldiers dies as easily as my guards. when i witness a "bandit" single handedly defeated 3 soldiers. which is similar to my guards unit.
soldier is more expensive but is just as expandable as guards, if they die just as easily is there any point in going higher ?

The higher tier soldiers do have more of a difference in fighting power though. And it does show, they have a lower loss ration then their low-tier comrades given the same situation.

On the other hand high tier units are a lot more expensive, if the use of 3 Iron (plus worktime for 3 items) is worth it compared to 1 copper 1 wood (plus worktime for 2 items) is really worth the difference in the end, not sure.
I haven't played enough games yet to have a clear opinion on that.

Buuuut what has to be taken into account is the fighting bonus from wealth. Its a percentage.
Wich means the better units should get way more increase then the low ones.
If you have the max combat power from wealth, the combat power of your units is 400% the base so it should be:
Tier 1 soldier (base 3): 3*400% = 12
Tier 3 soldier (base 12): 12*400% = 48

The first step in wealth-bonus is 110% so a 10% bonus, at that the tier 3 soldier already gets 1 point (12*10% = 1.2), the tier 1 soldier not (3*10% = 0.3).

So the Tier 3 soldier gets combat points way faster then his lowly comrade from wealth, since his base is way higher.

So my hunch right now is that at start you are might be better off with cheap massproduced units, but as your treasury starts to fill the better units are more and more worth the investment.
(as I said, HUNCH, on how the systems are explained right now. Haven't played enough games I paid enough attention soley to the military system to have any hard facts.)

Nah, standard guards, standard rangers (against ghosts and thieves) and standard fearnaughts (against werewolves), that's all. For more info check FAQ and other threads.

Writing this, are you sure, that 0.3 point´s aren´t working like 130 %?

If I read your sentence it look´s like the game would round down, which I don´t believe.

Yes, just keep with the cheapest units.

If you have enough spears and some torches, you won´t get problems with thieves and bandits and if you have silver and your first 10 to 20 fearnaughts, you have won against even werewolves.

Literally, against thieves and bandits just let your guards go to the boarder one after another. No reason to recruit an army of soldiers or high level military.
