Kingsmouth: Digging Deeper Mission, Bug?
Hi everyone.

I hope you are well.

I started the 'Digging Deeper' mission given by Henry Hawthorne.

After entering the tunnels for Tier 2 of the Mission, you have to reach the door with an inscription which reads "Oculus, rara avis".

When I click on the apertures, I get the message of 'item required'. I seem to have only one item, the pyramid. Therefore, I can't complete the puzzle to open the door!

What am I doing wrong? Where are the items required?

Thank you for your time!

As written above: you should have them but don't see them. After all, you could open the other door to get the pyramid. Just click the lock nooks. If the door doesn't open, try running Kingsmouth Code again, then relaunch Digging Deeper. Might be that the invisible items got voided upon aborting Digging Deeper.

Try looking around in the tunnels. You're close, but not yet there...

So the items are in the tunnels? I can somehow obtain them?

The only thing I find in the tunnels, is a book with an inscription.

So did you try to just [F]-use those nooks?

You should have recieved three items in a former mission, The Kingsmouth Code, where you went and entered a small basement room, and grabbed three things. And IIRC you have to run that quest before, to unlock the one you're currently in. These three are in your inventory, but hidden... ...or given to you by magical intervention.

...some remnant of Funcom's decision to make inventory space ultra-scarce and attach a stiff price tag to it, and/or rather sloppy rewriting of the questline upon port from TSW, where you had to grab them first.

You should find two doors, and one can normally be opened straight away, where you find the pyramid, which the other requires. I seem to remember that in TSW I have carried them around for quite a while, not knowing what they might be good for... ...but there inventory expansions cost a pittance, so I didn't care. In SWL, however...

Sorry for misleading you there, in an attempt to not spill the beans. Also...

...as the difficulty will get tougher, even within this quest, you might find this site[unfair.co] helpful. Especially if you - like me - never learned to play an instrument

Yes I did try [F] those nooks/apertures. The message I receive is 'item required'. I did the previous quest as per your spoiler. I remember picking those items up as it was part of the tiered quest you are talking about. But I don't think they are in my inventory. I need to check again.

Can you open one door (on the right) with just the pyramid I have? Doesn't seem like it.

Thank you for your help thusfar!

I am aware of the website, but this is not an issue of solving the puzzles. I can't solve a puzzle because I don't have the required items.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

So I had to pause Digging Deeper, and redo the Kingsmouth Code as you said. This meant that I somehow had the items (not in my mission inventory though) and I managed to get through the door on the far left. Thanks!
