Blessing and a curse though. It's a fun ass game that's not going anywhere since Funcom doesn't seem to kill any of their old titles (AO is still kickin' it).
The original with the missing content is still better than Legends honestly. They absolutely gutted the weapons system when they changed it in Legends.
damn that sucks, such a cool story..., wish there was a ending thou at least.
how so?
The previous system, while simple builder/spender gameplay, had far more potential for synergy and combos using different status effects you gained access to throughout the various weapon skill trees. There was an actual reason to progress through all the skill trees.
Then they scrapped that for a system to give weapons unique mechanics and effects. They achieved the goal of making them different, at the cost of making most of the mechanics obnoxious and tedious. They made weapons only interact or modify things within their own tree, so they gutted any synergy or combo potential.
The two weapon system was made ultimately worse and completely uninteresting. The lack of a level to dictate your characters strength also made it more interesting, and that was scrapped for the run of the mill normal level system.
