is there a guide on how to play the original secret world?

i cant stand this updated version the classes are so convoluted/complicated for me :/

Though I do recommend trying to get used to the new mechanics.

The classes don't mean much, you can still play how you want to. They just serve more as training wheels for new players, since in the original TSW you could end up with two weapons that didn't have good synergy and that gimped you for the later areas.

And a lot of the new weapons mechanics are relatively hands off. Like Chaos Magic automatically processes, as do Pistols. And the more "hands on" ones, like Shotguns, don't take too long to get used to - when you have to reload, the Shotgun abilities you have slotted turn into different Ammo types to select from, with one healing, one doing fire damage, etc. Just an extra button click.

I do hate they made it more difficult/time consuming to explore different weapons and builds in SWL, and i do miss screwing around with the old ability synergies and having more ability options myself. But SWL is still fun in its own right

I just logged into my original TSW account which gave me the option to download it.

Edited Note: I didn't play it on Steam, but rather from Funcom directly. I also have the original install discs, and have TSW saved on a HDD.

You may need to fiddle with the secret world website (something like register.secretworld.com) but I had no issues getting it working from the above reddit post.

Did you try at all with the original discs? Would they still work because I have mine too XD, or is the Funcom website the only real option for the original game?

No, I didn't try the original discs. I never deleted the game files from my drives for both TSW and Anarchy Online and copied them over to new drives.
