Level 50... now what?
Hey guys,
so i hit level 50 today, what do i do for power at this point?
there won't be any more incremental levelup increases to keep me level... working on blue gear with perks currently... is more gear the only progression left?

Gear and stat increase (for 40 AP in the abilities tab).

At level 50, yes, the focus is more on levelling gear and refining builds. This is where endgame and grouping come more in to play. To reach the highest elites, there's a still a long way to go. In a way, the level 50 cap is a bit misleading because you gain huge item power beyond that.

so i just have to grind out loot bags to fuse until i reach purple+ ?

I just wanna do the story+sidequests mostly.
Handoiron Nov 19, 2021 @ 8:49pm
Just getting the gear bags from running through the story and one pass through all the missions in each area is plenty enough to get purple gear made and that's more then enough to finish the story. No "grinding" necessary.

After that, it gets much more grindy but that's the "end game" in any MMO really.
Summerisle Nov 20, 2021 @ 6:01am
Yes -- post-level 50 is more grindy, but if you group with nice people, the activities can be great fun, and they're best way to level gear [unless you want to spend a lot of real world money].

just, beat those baddies, with the free combat overhaul, You can revisit Great QUEST options, like The Vampire Lady (zone 3):, and develop your PVP skills, otherwise i'd hold off going into total anarchy mode, Man

procedurally generate your path in your head, for what makes the most Fun, for You

No. As a matter of fact, more gear is exactly what you don't want because of how ludicrous it is to level a piece of gear to max.

At this point, you want to hope you've chosen good gear and then invest in leveling it.

Oh i was referring to farming loot bags, basically. wording was bad.
Handoiron Nov 21, 2021 @ 7:59pm
It won't be specifically the gear bag items only. End game activities give distillates which are used to level gear up just like the gear bag items but for higher amounts of XP per combine.

The higher the rank of the activity you run the bigger the distillates you get and the more XP you can feed into your gear to level them. The higher you level your gear the higher the rank of activities you have available to run and the stronger you are to be able to complete them.

However, I want to say again, you don't need to worry about any of that until you've finished the story. Simply using the gear bag rewards for completing the missions as you play through the story and through a map will be more than enough to keep you ahead of the curve to be able to finish the story.

It's only after you complete the story and reach end game that you'll have to worry about grinding specifically to upgrade your gear.
Dan_The_Noob Nov 21, 2021 @ 8:13pm
I'm not worried for endgame, more just looking for a carrot to pull me through the rest of the story. I hit level 50 in Egypt.
Handoiron Nov 21, 2021 @ 8:48pm
Well, after 50, other than purely upgrading your gear, there is still working on AP and SP, unlocking extra weapon types, and some inventory space or sprint speed upgrades if you haven't gotten the cheap ones yet.

Even making sure you've gotten the omni-achievement for each map (all missions finished once, all normal champions killed once, and all areas explored) can be a "distraction" goal from just grinding through the story if gear upgrades aren't enough.
Summerisle Nov 22, 2021 @ 4:31am
Personally, I never found the game a grind while I still had story to do...I think the story / atmosphere is the best part. But it depends on preferences, of course :)
Nain Nov 23, 2021 @ 12:03am
personally i wouldnt care much about the grind. if you REALLY enjoy the dungeons and the one singular raid that much, then go all out. but if you find them a nice distraction once in a while, theres almost no point in grinding.

you will only grind for the privilige to participate in the same activities on a higher difficulty level, to get more rewards to upgrade your gear to be able to do the same activities on higher difficulties and so on... its the hamsterwheel that keeps on turning.

as for you needing a carrot for the story, dont. the story holds its own and doesnt need a carrot on a stick. just enjoy the game, maybe switch some weapons here and there if it gets stale, but dont fall in the grind trap only for the story experience.
do as mentined above and finish the maps (except the lairs of course) as your carrot.
granted, in transylvania theres some map-elites that would be impossible with only leveling gear if you are alone (that on in the carpathian fangs is nasty), but nothing a party of likeminded cannot handle.
Dan_The_Noob Nov 23, 2021 @ 12:17am
can i do dungeons repeatedly in 1 day and still get distillate? i might jus spam early dungeons or something if i can.
Nain Nov 23, 2021 @ 12:48am
if you mean story mode dungeons for the quick run, yes. you can loot the chests again.
if you are patron, the bonus chest at the end is a single use per day though.

you can decide for yourself. on elite 1 (req is only level 50, but youd then need a group) one distillate equals ~1100, while lets say polaris story mode rewards ~250-400 per chest.
if you have a group handy, the elite option is obviously the one to go,

have you unlocked scenarios already? occult defense is a quick 5 mintue hordemode defense activity that usually rewards ~3000 animashards, a glyph bag and 2x600 distillate (usually glyph). thats solo on wave 1. mobs usually drop one or two green items that are worth 250xp as fodder also.
