Stuck in Meowling, any tips?

Howdy.
Last night I was trying to work through the Meowling quest chain but I'm stuck.
My hunch is that its actually my game glitching out based on where I was in the main quest chain, but its entirely possible I'm simply in the wrong place.

I'm up to tier 4.
I know of one secret room in the mansion that you get to by clicking a painting. There are a lot of books on the floor, news articles on the walls, and the desk is where you get the plot item to advance the main quest.

Based on spoilers (and observing other players), I'm pretty sure there is supposed to be a book you click on the floor to advance the plot... But I'm not seeing one.

Am on on the wrong track? Or is my game glitching?

If I'm on the wrong track, let me know and I'll search more thoroughly tonight...

You're correct in what you need to advance but it's not in that room. Try maybe a room higher up in the mansion.

I am stuck in the follow up quest..picking up ingredients in egypt..corrupted gardens..the fenchel seems the herbs don't light up and i can't pick it up at all.

Curses. It extends even further into the plot? Guess I shouldn't bother...
Phew... I just googled after reading that. According to reddit the herbs are in London now so those of us who haven't gotten to Egypt yet can still do the quest...

Having a bug at ending : i found the stone bowl but nothing happens when pressing F to use it and combine the 3 components.

The Meowling was the Samhain quest, if you still have it you'll have to take a new quest in its spot, or pause it in the mission journal, till Halloween 2018.
