I finished up to issue 10 with non-endgame gear (first playthough). So a mixed blue/purple gear setup. Purple gear not upgraded. I did not grind Aegis at that point, but did some upgrades when available just by doing missions. Having a second set of Aegis is the most important thing, a few upgrades should be enough, you certainly don't have to grind much to finish the storycontent. I thhink my Aegisgear was a mix of 1.2-1.3. Better custom purple gear makes it easier

All Kaidan content after issue 10 I played with upgraded endgame gear, but I doubt the difficulty and Aegisrequirements changed much.

AEGIS is gone. No longer part of the game, only as a reference in the storyline.

^(S)he's playing through the original TSW.

For what it's worth, I've gotten through all content with a mix of 1.0 and 1.1 AEGIS gear and non-upgraded purple gear that was awarded from DLC Issues. But that was on my second playthrough, and I never tried the dungeons (didn't own Issue 12). I had a tougher time my first time through, and I think I was around 1.4 AEGIS when I finally beat the game.

The difficulties of AEGIS are wildly over-dramaticized, you just need a good build and to focus more on avoiding big attacks. You don't need to grind anything if you've got your other matters covered. I recommend throwing some SP into the early levels of AEGIS Efficiency and Speed though, if you're done with talismans and your primary weapons. Don't bother upgrading shields, they're unimportant unless you're running dungeons.

The shipping containers your keys go to are in the lower left corner of the map. The rewards are worthwhile, but that's a tough area. I'd wait until the story leads you past the quarantine wall before venturing there. Most of the openable containers are towards the outside of the rows, and their numbers are painted on the sides.

Finally, sorry, no spare capacitors. I sold everything but my main gear to buy clothes before the SWL transfer.

She! ;) Thank you guys! By second set of Aegis, you guys mean the ones from the tower mission, or the other mission I forgot, gives you like a second red, purple, and blue? I will definitely do those as soon as possible then.
I'm currently using a mix of purple, blue, and one gold (woodcutter). At the moment, when fighting, I noticed most enemies were squishy, it was just the shield getting in our way. Others, like near the...docks I think, we're not as squishy but with the really annoying blue shields that regenerate, so killing them was a nightmare. @_@ So just getting the second set of aegis, and maybe upgrading the SP section, should help quite a bit, correct? And 1 or 2 upgrades to aegis should definitely help, but not really needed?

When I upgrade the...red aegis, does it upgrade the second red as well, or do we seriously have to upgrade each aegis item individually? o-o I know you guys said it wasn't really necessary, but I'm curious if it is as much work as I am making it out to be.

oh, and we equip both colors at the same time, yes? So both weapons are on red?

Speaking of squishy, I've been heavily focusing on attack rating for my talismans and have like 3.6k health, and the enemies do hit hard. should I focus on adding more health talismans, or keep the current setup?

and anyone with a good pistol/sword build?

Upgrading the SP will help alot.

Each Aegis needs its own upgrades if I remember correctly.

The color Aegis corresponds to the weapon it is associated with. Most of the time I had them a single color.

Usually a good head talisman is enough for health if you have some type if survivability stuck in there somewhere. Maybe add in hinder and impair to slow mobs down to give you time and space to kill them.

Here is a build I threw together for pistol/sword...focusing on focus and abit of penetration:

Hope that helps!

I'd go ahead and do 1 upgrade to each of your AEGIS disruptors whenever they max out naturally, then decide later if you want to do more upgrades. Leaving them sitting at 100% for long periods will make them slow to upgrade later if you decide you need more upgrades.

When I upgrade the...red aegis, does it upgrade the second red as well, or do we seriously have to upgrade each aegis item individually?

Each individually. On my first playthrough I had a very lopsided set because I did about a third of Tokyo with only one set of disruptors. It never occured to me that the container of toxic waste I received as a "reward" was something I should want to crack open immediately and shove my hand into.

oh, and we equip both colors at the same time, yes? So both weapons are on red?

That's generally the way to go, but there's a handful of enemies that have two layers of multi-colored shields, in which case you may find it advantageous to split your weapons, one for each shield. If you're not doing enough damage though, you may have to use both weapons to clear one shield, pause to change disruptors, then attack the other shield.

I'm not sure if they ever tell you this anywhere, but you can use the 9 and 0 keys to cycle disruptor colors. I personally found that much easier than using the mouse, especially while dodging attacks. Another tip: Always install both sets of disruptors in the same color order, that way there's no guessing which color comes next and you can quickly tap 9 twice if you know the color you want is 2 steps down. Also, changing both disruptors simultaneously doesn't take any longer than changing one disruptor.

Funnily enough, my first playthrough was pistol/sword with all attack talismans.

My basic setup was:
Hair Trigger, Shootout, Chop Shop, Dancing Blade, Bullet Ballet, Turn the Tables, Surging Blade.

Bullet Ballet is the critcal one. Drop everything you're doing and get that if you don't have it.
A better player could get more use out of Shake and Bake than Surging Blade, but I preferred the security of a dash with a very short cooldown to get out of danger zones. Sometimes I took both dashes and dropped Turn the Tables.

For passives, I never settled on a specific lineup, but the standards were Bloodsport, Fortunate Strike, One in the Chamber, and Sudden Return, and the Elite was always either Gross Anatomy or Live Wire. The remaining spots were a mix of Advantage Me, Double Dash, Increased Focus, Dark Potency, Iron Maiden or (pre-nerf) Finish the Movement depending on how confident or insecure I was feeling.

Lead with Bullet Ballet, follow with Blade consumer, Hair Trigger x2-5 then repeat consumers. The basic idea is that all the attacks are quick multi-hitters, so they should proc the little damage passives more consistently. Death by papercuts.

Auxiliary was usually Whippersnapper with Jones in the Fast Lane as the passive, for the interrupts. Without auxiliary upgrade kits from the dungeons I wasn't playing, there wasn't any auxiliary damage skill worth using over Hair Trigger.

To this day I've never invested a single point into an Augment. That's crazy levels of grinding compared to AEGIS.

I think TSW transfers are ending soon, so just a head's up you may want to get on that.

Thanks everyone for the advice! I've done the tower mission and got my last 3 controllers, and did the shield mission as well. Now focusing on completing the storyline and other missions and upgrading when I can. :D Gonna try the builds soon too.
Found someone to help run the dungeon later as well, so if anyone else wants to help now that I do have someone else (total of 3 people so far, including me), please feel free to add me here for when we do head in.

I downloaded the El-t something one and have auto switch enabled, it sounded better since it also displays the percentages for me, among other things.
