If that was the strategy it didn't work here, going through dungeons and finding the only loot to be gotten from chests which require dungeon keys removed every temptation to buy Auram, Auram is way overused and it costs a lot more to get the same things you got with FC poiints, which I did continue to buy after buying Grand Master and will still buy as long as The Secret World (not Legends) is around. I continued to buy FC points for AoC well after it became Unchained and once my financial situation improves will do so again. I like Steam but not enough to pay what Auram cost foe what you get with Auram. They shot themselves in the foot with that aspect of the move to Steam.
The relation of the transfer to Steam is as a Grand Master I get 1200 Funcom points each month, Funcom points are the rough equivalent to Auram except worth more considering the funcom store prices and not able to buy pay to win crap like Auram can, to me an overall better deal.
It was a SWL-based decision, not anything related to Steam.
I'm not sure what you can do with 1550 aurum personally if you're not using them for keys of some kind.
