Patron vs Aurum
So, I find it a little odd that being a parton does not give you an Aurum stipend as well.... Spending the $15 you would on patron would get you 1550 Aurum, which seems to me to be a much better deal. You do get cache keys for being patron, but you can also buy them with Aurum. Thoughts?

If I had to speculate, I'd have to guess it was a way to make people who paid for Grand Master (lifetime membership) start paying for things in the game again >_>.

If that was the strategy it didn't work here, going through dungeons and finding the only loot to be gotten from chests which require dungeon keys removed every temptation to buy Auram, Auram is way overused and it costs a lot more to get the same things you got with FC poiints, which I did continue to buy after buying Grand Master and will still buy as long as The Secret World (not Legends) is around. I continued to buy FC points for AoC well after it became Unchained and once my financial situation improves will do so again. I like Steam but not enough to pay what Auram cost foe what you get with Auram. They shot themselves in the foot with that aspect of the move to Steam.

I don't understand what the relationship with the transfer to Steam is that you bring up, but I agree that everything is overpriced for what you get and I've lost reason to pay for gold so... yeah :/ I would agree that it backfired.

The relation of the transfer to Steam is as a Grand Master I get 1200 Funcom points each month, Funcom points are the rough equivalent to Auram except worth more considering the funcom store prices and not able to buy pay to win crap like Auram can, to me an overall better deal.

But Steam owners of TSW who were GMs also got a monthly bonus stipend.
It was a SWL-based decision, not anything related to Steam.

Old TSW was on steam as well... Thsi change hans nothing to do with Steam, just Secret World... Also, I know you can buy both Patron and Aurum, but I was talking about if you were going to spend just $15 a month, which one would be better.... I am still not convinced that the cache keys and few extra marks and shards make Patron worth more than 1550 Aurum

With Patron you also get extra AP/SP, extra XP, don't have to spend shards to anima leap or teleport and all the other benefits.

I'm not sure what you can do with 1550 aurum personally if you're not using them for keys of some kind.

I agree. They said that Grandmasters were "ruining the game". Doing it this way means that although I have a patron status "for life" due to my Grandmaster status I get zero aurum. If I want aurum I must pay extra. If they had given aurum to patrons, they would have to give me Aurum for my patronage. Hence the way this is.
