In SWL, there are a couple different ways of assembling/disassembling objects. It is now a mission-specific mechanic. In some missions, the item(s) will be added to your hot key bar in the Shift + 1/2/3 slots and simply using that hot key (or double-clicking or right-clicking on the item in your inventory) will automatically assemble/disassemble it, as necessary. In at least one mission, and for at least one achievement, the TSW crafting mechanics are available, but you access that screen through crafting tables in the area.
Otherwise... All gear upgrades are performed through empowerment (to raise the item's "numbered" level) and fusion (to raise the item's "colored" / quality level).
