Or. best way I've found thus far, do the daily Challenge Log (can find it in the main-menu).
It's two tiered... first tier is any 3 side-missions, and 3 main-missions, killing 50 monsters (if I recall correct), and *I think* 3 weapon/item modifications/improvements..
Second tier is 5 side-missions, and 5 main-missions, killing 100 monsters, and I think 6 item modifications/improvements.
Dailies earn you somewhere around 5k a day, might be between 5k-10k... spend them too frequently to recall.
Welcome to F2P.
Of course that's more reserved for the somewhat geared lvl 50 players, but what else can one expect?
Free to grind.
Pay to win.
Still at 1.5k players, so Funcoms big update did nothing.
Keep in mind that servers are about to go down and patron isn't working probably and not everyone will have converted to steam.
Let's see what the player base looks like after the patch before calling it a failure
If this number is the same during peaktime (and after patch) later today than it doesn't bode well for the future. Although it probably is too early too tell. But yes, 1.5 k for a new release/re-release isn't much.
I've got it on Steam (Just to get some cosmetics, when their Ultimate Edition went on sale, last winter..), but I'm not going to run it from Steam. A vast majority (at the Steam launch) will, no doubt, be running it from Steam - given how new games on Steam, tend to get a big influx.
...but the core of the players, are still on the non-Steam client - you can be pretty sure of that.
If you had a TSW Steam-key in your Funcomaccount you automatically have to use the Steam client now. Or choose to switch to the Funcomclient, but this can't be reverted when chosen. This will bring/force a lot of the players to the Steam client. (if I understood the Steam FAQ well enough).
I have no doubt a good number of players are using the Funcom client and will never switch to Steam, though.
It's still guessing but i think if the Steamnumbers aren't good, the overall number isn't as well.
It wont change by more than 500 hundred players, a k by most. That I'm almost certain of.
As for the OP's comment. You can farm 10,000 marks a day, per character, with a 20% bonus if you're patron. You can sell items on the auction house for more. You can also convert Aurum to Marks, and Marks to Aurum on the exchange.
How certain?
http://steamcharts.com/search/?q=the+secret+world+legends
Current showing at 791, but you called it at 1.5k. You say you're certain they won't break 2.5k - right?
Very certain.
Also, this sites a bit more accurate. https://steamdb.info/app/215280/
The game has tended to stay around or below 1.5k throughout it's existance (even before it was Legends) via Steam players and only jumped by a few more hundred when a big event has gone down or some new Issue was released.
It's all time peak was 3.6k and that was almost half a decade ago.
Judging by this, when it does it's shift later and more migrate to Steam, I reckon it will only bring 500 or so, or a thousand at maximum. I'll be very suprised if it beats the all time record even by 1 player.
Thanks for the link.
I dunno, the game seems really healthy ingame population wise. I'm not a fortune-teller, obviously.
Still, I'd wager you a game from your wishlist vs one on mine that they'll break 3k before September.
Free to play, some people migrating accounts, returning players from that peak period and some new blood through steam...
Yeah. I'm willing to make that a wager if you are.
