In moving away from an MMO style of gameplay, where you might need to form groups in order to take down tougher mini bosses, the new 'shared world' aspect of the game favors the single player more. Sure you can still have ad hoc groups, where players can casually team up on the fly without necessarily having to group, but with content being more one player-centric, the game also has to be solo-able and, for people who are more used to an MMO style, that generally means easy mode.
Short of giving the mini bosses more health, to make the fights longer, I doubt this new mechanic will change.
That said you can still die when soloing if your build doesn't have enough sustain in it, but it's mobs of enemies that will kill you rather than a single boss.
the group bosses in each map can also be soloed, just need to be 5 or more lvls above them, that might be different at higher lvls but the kingsmouth boss Lutefisk i soloed at lvl 20.
but still i love this game and will play it for most likely a very long time ^^
