How to change to a new weapon?
Hi all, this is probably really easy but I can't seem to find any info on it. I can't equip a different weapon than the build I selected because it says I need AP points in it, but it won't let me click Unlock in that weapon category even though I have the AP. Is there another place I need to go to train in that weapon?

Are you a legacy player. If so have you linked your old account and downloaded your old items from the Seret World which includes unlocking all weapons. If not you need to pay Marks of Favor to unlock weapons.

What you need to pay to unlock the weapon is indicated in the top right corner of that weapons ability page.

Additional info for free 2 play players without legacy transfer (free weaponunlocks):

- Each additional weapon cost you more (the 4th weapon is more expensive than the 3rd etc.)
- You have to unlock (buy) a weapon 2 times, both the active and passive page (iirc)

As you can understand unlocking weapons can be a pain if you don't want to cash up. The ingame money is limited each day and you probably wnat to unlock other things (sprints / inventory / fusings etc). If you don't like your weapon, make another character and try the weapons first.

Edit: oops, I now rememberd f2p players have only 1 characterslot so you can't easily try other weapons. Making a second -test- account, might work.

Damn that is a big sucky move if it is true that passive and active weapon page have to be unlocked seperately for those new players.

Sadly they took out the weapon testing that was in the original TSW, they should put it back in and let players chose their class after they could have tested the class out. Especialy because they only have 1 character slot.

Weapon testing would be great, atleast since alot of the weapons have so unique mechanics.

Weapon testing would be a great idea, I found myself remaking characters over and over to see how other builds would work since I had only tried one before.

When it comes to DPS roles all of the weapons honestly kinda feel the same. 1 single-target ability 1 multi-target ability, few 20s cooldows and a gimmicky mechanic that you can exploit with some passives.

Heal and Tank roles are a bit more interesting but with the future of the game uncertain most players won't bet on team roles this far ahead.

Locking down weapons for F2P is a really bad idea. Most will go DPS, get bored and the prospect of grind to unlock other weapons is very unappealing at best.

The grind for abilities is bad enough imho without having to unlock the weapons themselves. Good thing I'm legacy because I'd otherwise judge this game not worth my time at all.

I ended up going with a healer! :) Was a lot of fun in the beginning, hope it stays that way
