Is Transcending Worth It?
Is transcending worth the chore of grinding again? I mean, will there be increased stats, or... ?

Here is a list of advantages i found on irowiki

-When going back to 1/1 Novice, the character starts with 100 Stat points, instead of the regular 48 points.
-A permanent 25% HP/SP bonus is given instantly upon transcendence.
-Job level limit at transcendent second classes is raised to 70, giving 20 extra skill points.
-Access to new skills by the new transcendent second class.
-Access to new gears marked as "Transcendent Only".
-Access to the upper levels of Thanatos Tower.

What's the process like going from Mastersmith to Mechanic? Do you need to be Transcendant?

The process goes like this IF you WANT to TRANSCEND: Novice >> Merchant [AT LEAST Level 40 / Job 40] >> Blacksmith (Level 99 / Job50) > *TRANSCEND* > High Novice > High Merchant > Mastersmith [Level 99 / Job 70] >> Mechanic

Hope this helps :)

Yes you have to transcend. Transcending gives you access to more skills, more stat points, and increased hp/sp. Take a level 150/50 that did transcened and a level 150/50 that didn't, the one who did transcend will be more than 25% stronger just based on stats alone. Probably even 100% stronger because the one that didn't transcend wont' have access to key skills like soul exhale if you're a sorcerer, meditatio if you're an archbishop, zen if you're a sura, and so on and so forth.

Again, the answer is YES, transcend. hope this helps
