Hows the official servers?
- IRO have about 1,xxx player count right now and most of those are merchants in the town. If you don't have a real friend to play with you, you mostly need to solo. However.....

Is the game new player friendly?
- It has a in-game location call "Eden Group" to guide and help a new players. You can easily play most job/class solo until level 100 (Reach Class 3 job) with only good free equipment provided by "Eden Group".

After that is the hard part, you need to save a lot of in-game money to buy better gear from other players or use real money to buy item from crash shop.

It has everything from high quality gears, some QOL items and cosmetic. You can buy QOL items and cosmetic directly but for many high quality gear, they will come in a form of Gacha box that you need to buy a box to open and hope the thing you wants come out. Anyway, since most items bought from cash shop can be sold or given it to other players, you usually find cash shop items being sold by other players - which you can buy with in-game currency. Warning: They are very expensive.

You can be F2P player but it will be very hard in late game if you don't have in-game currency to buy good gears.

Lastly, I recommend you to create an account and download a client directly from IRO official website http://renewal.playragnarok.com/ instead of playing it on Steam. Accounts created through Steam Client have a problem with top-up system which prevent you from purchasing premium currency.
