Crafting: Is it really worth it?
There are numerous crafting professions and yet all of them seem more or less... pointless. Armorer for instance, I tend to find better armor in dungeons or off monsters I kill without having to go through the trouble of grinding armorer levels. Are there armor sets that can ONLY be crafted that are better than what you'll find from monsters/dungeons? I find some issue with the weapons as well.

Take any weapon crafting profession, same problem experienced as with armor with the additional issue, is there ever a point or reason to use a normal attack? Your skills are leagues better and sometimes cost way less AP.. I essentially just use weapons for stat boosts and thus stick to dual wielding or using shields for my Osamodas.

The ONLY crafting profession I can see any use out of would be leatherworking so I can make carrying bags - am I misunderstanding? Is there any more useful crafting professions? Do they get better later on? About the only profession I level at this point is Hunting just so I can replace monsters I kill ... and farming so I can feed my mount..

I may have been inconsistent with my post at the end - I'm mostly just asking about useful crafting professions. The gathering professions are useful only if the crafting ones are with the exception of Hunter and Farming as I mentioned at the end.
this is what happens when the devs dont actually play the game
Handyman as far as I can see so far is THE crafting skill that I would say is handiest (pardon the pun!) you can make dungeon keys, and the ikiakits to expand your storage in haven bag. That and leather are the two I am focusing on at the moment, but I also use baking (for heals after fights) and a couple others are getting levelled up, just because I need components from them to make things in other craft skills =)

*edits to add* I would really like to know if the armour/weapon skills become handy at high levels, 'cos same as you so far anything I find that drops from dungeons and mobs is better than what I can make =)

Not entirely sure as I'm not a high level at all, but I used to play Dofus so a high crafting skill in the smith/clothing trees allowed for maging equipments which gave you stupid good bonuses like +1ap. I notice there's a slot in some equipment for slotting runes, my guess is that you may be only able to slot runes into said equipment if you meet the level requirements as the profession used to make it. But then again I could be totally wrong.

But on the whole being lucky and hunting equips usually is more efficient/cost effective than gathering/buying the materials to make the stuff yourself.

As for normal attack, if it's anything like Dofus was before the weapon nerf a year or two ago, come higher levels weapons usually had a higher base damage than most spells, most battles became a huge brawl with melee weapons pretty much, even cras ran double dags it was funny. And again like Dofus, early levels weapons just weren't up to snuff. Except for some classes that didn't have good mobility/range or high damaging spells (which got changed to reduce their reliance on weapons) weapons are still mostly used for stat bonuses, and probably always will be.
Crafting does also let you make things otherwise unachievable. weapons being the most notable; there are weapons you can't get as drops that you can craft.

HOWEVER, the material requisites are freaking crazy. I think it assumes you've five gatherers for every crafter.
I'm with Shindria. If you're going to do anything, go with handyman. (As far as I know,) it's the only way to get gathering boxes and ikiakits (sans buying them in the market.)
Armorer, why not, maybe to craft and sell initiate epaulettes. Long distance(LD) craft does not have a lot of weapons i fancy except those crafted from LD weapon seal and especially the craftable epic. Ush's Cards. After that, you may decide to craft the card into the strongest 1 handed lv 150 shushu cards in the game or swap ush cards for another item(s) of similar worth or for another epic too.
Well, usually, the best professions for everyday use are trapper, handyman, herbalist, baker and chef where the last two are connected to farmer and fisherman because its where they get resources mostly(not always!), then there are things like weapon and equipment crafting. Most of the good equipment is crafted at lvl 100 with theese professions when you get access to seal equipment (every player can make only one seal gear because you get only one untradable seal for that profession when you reach lvl 100 in each of them). Seal equipment is mostly pretty neat lvl 100 item where the weapons from weapon masters are later used to craft even more neat weapons for lvl 150. Other than that, every one of those gear crafting professions has something you can't drop, there are some nice things you can always craft and sell, the only problem is that people need to buy only one piece of equipment that can last forever unlike bread, potions or food (until they get better thingat higher level). I would recommend you to look at some nice equipment you would want yourself at higher levels and lvl up the profession where thei tem is crafted. Or do all of them, make some seal equipment and sell it for millions of kamas.

So guys they will have a revamp for the crafting professions and if memory serves me right in dofus when they did this they stopped all the key drops from the monsters. My prediction for this will be the equipment drops will become harder to get from the machinies in the front of the dungeons, the items/Equipments will become even more expensive. Keys will raise in price. So get those professions up now.

Long story short, if you actually want to join a guild and be useful and not be broke all the time the answer is a resounding yes.

Food and baking are big ones since buffs and rapid healing makes late level dungeons easier and cuts down the time between grinding mobs.

Trapper is also a huge one for leveling since you don't need to travel to find mobs, the group sizes become more consistant, and you don't screw up the ecosystem bonus (unless you're riktus.
Thank you, everyone, for your replies. I've made a few decisions on where to go with crafting. My friend and I will probably split the professions so it's not as intensive. Handyman and chef are my likely targets while sticking it through with armour.
