The English-speaking community is dead.
You might see the rare level 200+ player who is sitting in a town, or looking to do an endgame dungeon, but you will never be able to find English players doing any other dungeons.
Spanish and French speaking players are more common, but they tend to avoid and/or insult English players.
I would say this game is not worth getting into if you don't already have friends to play it with.
No matter how badly it's handled, I still keep coming back to it to check things out, in hopes that there are more players, or things are fixed.
But every time I come back, I only see more and more negative changes.
-Like removing half the fast-travel points so players can "enjoy the scenery" that the artists made.
-Reworking classes to change their gameplay identity, making them clunkier and take longer to play, making their gameplay more repetitive, and/or just nerfing classes.
-Reworking equipment systems so that all the gear you worked towards becomes borderline useless or outclassed.
-Specifically preventing F2P players from trading for the premium currency with other players.
-New content is rarely added, a new class hasn't been added in like 7 years.
It's like instead of adding stuff to the game, Ankama keeps changing things that aren't broken, and they usually end up making them worse. Or their changes are detrimental to players in some way.
It always sucks to find out that the gameplay of a class that you liked is now gone, this happens more often than it should.
I absolutely love the gameplay in Wakfu. But I have no faith in Ankama, it seems like they don't love the game or the players as much as the players love the game.

Tried to solo but is like near impossible if you not boost to use other characters (alts) or multi-acc. I really wanted to solo it, but in terms on dungeons or higher open world areas, tends to need to have a tank and a heal.
Also english community is pretty dead rn. There are some of them wandering around brak/bonta or any main city all day but thats it, the mayority of them are at max lvl, max optimized gear and only just talking on chat.
You best bet rn is... playing something else ( no troll here ) Or try to make some friends to help you through the game.
Also getting boosted by others is not that great either, i got boosted to lvl 190 (Sadi for healer, panda tank and osa dps) at first it was cool but the worst is that you need GEAR ACCORDING TO YOUR LEVEL, farming it having literally no gear was painful, same for dungeons, lack of gear was gettint to the boss and just die.
The game is nice, but for a solo player is kinda rough, very. Once you have a team with good gear ofc.
