Thoughts on Waven
I found Wakfu really late and didn't play much but now with Waven just releasing I am diving in at the start and having a blast though I immediately see/feel the differences in Waven compared to their old titles of Wakfu and Dofus. Curious on how the vets feel about the new game

Completely new game

Same world universe but way later in history but that's really about it, there's no point comparing Dofus & Wakfu to Waven, its simply just another game with completely new mechanics.

It think its a decent game, way too grindy and gets repetitive fast tho, haven't tried this live early access since i lost over +50 hours of progress that i had in betas so not felling like restarting from scratch right now

Dofus/Wakfu are both old school type MMO(T)RPG built for the PC gamer base. While Waven is close to those light MMO built for the Mobile gamer base, so Waven isn't anywhere close to Dofus/Wakfu in terms of contents/gameplay due to their compact design, which can be a lack luster for those who tried the PC Dofus/Wakfu.

On the other hand, if you don't like the old school high commitment MMO games, Waven is actually a more casual one in compare with Wakfu/Dofus, but honestly speaking, the commitment is still set on a pretty high level if you compare it with other TRPGs on the mobile (Eg. Fire Emblem or Langrisser), so in the end, it's not a game i'd recommend, at least at its current state there are way better "free" TRPG games out there. Especially since it's still in EA and Ankama is well known for their "change of mind" on their game designs, and kept changing and "rebalancing" their games like forever... that's what killed Wakfu's wikipedia in the 1st place, and Waven isn't getting a good one for a long time due to they've already planned to make changing in the game in new updates. For a high learning curve game like these, the devs' change of mind habit isn't helping at all and sooner or later will cause their player base to swear out loud due to forced play style changing and relearning the already hard to learn game mechanics...

It's barebones and can't compare to either of the previous two when it comes to content. It's more of a proof of concept than an actual game, and boils down to just non-stop redoing the same thing on the same square to get lootboxes.

I never really could get into wakfu because it never became what it advertised initially, so Dofus will stay the superior one of the three, but god is Waven far behind anything else.

It's not unpleasant by any means, there's just not enough there. You could argue this is a mobile limitation but it would just further highlight that mobile is bad.

mobile gaming is the future in many ways because the vast majority of casual gamers in the world have a mobile they game on, even if they aren't into pc gaming or console gaming. it was smart to create dofus touch and I am glad waven will also bring a new wave of gamers into the franchise.

Waven is fantastic in terms of UI/graphics/animations, the combat itself is also fun, although pretty different from the previous titles. The class skills and equipment are really interesting and give you quite a big variety of builds for each character.

It's severely lacking in content atm, but it's still in early access, so I have hope for it to become something more than what it is right now. I also hope it will be more than just a couple of small maps with a couple of npcs, each giving the same quest like 20-50 times, increasing the difficulty each time.
