WAKFU

Wakfu is not fun I guess.
HOLD UP you die hard fans before you chew me out and white knight this game let me tell you this: I loved the animated series ITS AMAZING, just breath taking...although.

The game is just not fun for me I guess.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Game became such a drag when leveling became rather sluggish with little reward and short lived even pointless. "Once you realize gear matters a lot more" and I mean without gear your like five to six times weaker than an enemy of similar level.

I'll keep it short as possible:

Levels? kinda pointless and grindy.

Gear? Means a lot more but takes too much to get it only for it to be short lived fast.

During level 1 to 20 I'm feeling the bit of fun or getting bored but levels 40 to 130 I wished I killed myself before investing more time into this game designed to be boring.

Get power leveled from 37 to 83 and scoffed how a mob that is level 64 in average being too powerful against me with level 40 average gear. (Which I believed to had upgraded to be "Amazing" but pointless for the effort).

Had to level my professions to make stronger gear that became boring as "staring at a gobball waiting for it to fly".

Had to buy gear instead because I refuse to subjugate myself with extra grind which be pointless soon.

Trying to figure out how to make kamas without brain dead mining, thought about selling dungeon loot but didn't profit well to buy a new set of more better gear. (Because who buys irrelevant stuff and who is still around to need it?)

Have I mentioned how completely dead the game is?

You can just see how most dungeons are irrelevant once you get what you want no need to return for a visit it seems.

Did I say slow combat with little reward? Yes....
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So yea, the game seem more onto the part of being all about strategy which is not bad in my opinion, although know whats bad? Apparently how undeserved the time that "Strategy" takes you giving hardly anything in return for it. Which in other words? Boring? A drag? A waste of time? Maybe one of them...

I tried getting to the whole "Sandbox" feel by making "Farms" trying to role play a bit to try to get a bit of fun out of it, like maybe like harvest moon or Stardew valley. Ya know? Making a different kind of gameplay relevant? Turns out its not as relevant or fun in the end. I don't even get XP from my garden gems...while it kinda hurts me more in the haven bag than outside of it...

So how I looked at the game its focus is combat but that combat is a drag with this feeling that level 200 or should I say 215 is the goal while everything else is just irrelevant in mind.

I played through quests which was suppose to be a Storyline? Breezed through em but it seems it takes a long while to get the other story quests giving me the idea that its locked behind grind, yikes. So story is out of the question of what to do.

Id like the game more if levels don't exist and became more about gear or get rid of complete need of gear and make levels matter more to make the effort of an average player feel like their getting somewhere.

85% of my gameplay is grind and 15% of the other gameplay is story? A goal? Eh the game is just a boring grind.

In my opinion they should of delve more into the sandbox gameplay making everything relevant instead of forgotten and dead content.

No idea how they can make Grind became a 2nd job rather than something FUN to do...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know its unfair to compare two different games but I believe Disgaea did a fine better job of making grind fun and rewarding than Wakfu in combat.

BUT HEY! AT LEAST WAKFU AS A "SHOW" IS BETTER THAN THE "GAME" RIGHT? right?....

-Watched the show- AND its a very good show too...they just seem to had failed to make Wakfu as a game closely as good as the animated series huh?

I liked Wakfu as an animated series but I just HATED Wakfu as a game...and not enough players ingame to tell me that its alive...or cared.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I did had a star struck feeling after seeing the "Familiar main casts" ingame but younger (Some that seemed to not had changed and some that is still alive....or gone "Rest in peace Sadida queen")

Look... I wanted to love this game and like what little good it had going for it (Very damned little of it) but its just not a very good MMORPG in my opinion.

Sorry.

Just liked to get this off my shoulders rather than keeping this opinion to myself after thinking about Wakfu and eww the game... :steamsad:

it was a fun game when it was alive, but it honestly paled in comparison to the show and universe it sold in the show. i mostly play dofus if i want my fix

The part of the game I enjoyed the most was when I grinded myself alone to level 110 in Sadida Kingdom and then found a team of great people to play with. We demolished dungeons so hard.
Then I lost them.

Wakfu is fun to play with people you get along.
It's also more fun when you're a kid, because after that there is no time to play long sessions.

I wish I could stay at my desk the whole day while playing Wakfu but I got things to do in real life man.

MMORPGs are for you if you're either a kid or a jobless millionaire.

Edit: frick real life man and its 24 hours a day, man. The sun, what does he want ?

I had just read this while considering playing this game: thank you so much for pointing this out. It's perfectly fine to disagree with a certain game like this: I already relate to your experience playing it, I'm so sorry you disliked it, and I deeply appreciate what you said about how this particular game isn't fun. Believe me, I'm a cynical person too! ;)

I've played this since closed beta, yeah it's a grind and it's definitely much more fun with a good group otherwise once you get towards mid game content is a bit rough without optimized gear and even then depending on your class you may not be able to solo everything. ( although there is the hero system now ).
I still think Dofus classic (1.29 currently) was far better than Dofus 2.0 and Wakfu. The animations and graphics were basic at best, but it had a certain charm that's been lost in the other games.

However, to me Wakfu wins over Dofus 2.0 by quite a bit, mostly because of the ecosystem mechanic, which depends on the players almost entirely.
Yes, some people will find it boring and frustrating to go look for trees and find none, but I actually enjoy some time planting them around and changing the enviroment step by step.

Then I go fight for some time (Eliotrop fighting is still fun, too bad the species don't go too far in the lore), and I can still enjoy every now and then a few hours.
Heck, I've come back recently, been playing a few hours yesterday and today, and was part of four teams, got three people added to play later with, and had quite a pleasant time.

Is it perfect? No, of course not. But it still has it's own charm.

The game has a lot of boring grind, gearing system is terrible, no one logs in a new MMO and says "wow, 230 levels reapeating this" after X levels, and they just keep increasing the levels with empty content instead of improving other aspects of the game.

the game is fine for solo play at lower levels, there is a lot of things to do, none of which really relys on other players so you can solo play quite a bit and have fun. It's when you get to higher levels that people have problems and get bored and quit.

Having to start doing dungeons to grind for better gear, not fun if you can't get players to join you and no guilds about doing the dungeons. The pvp system is horrible and eventually you get tired of that bad system also.

For me, i had lots of fun for a while with multiple characters up until i started reaching higher levels, and there just aren't any players about, you can't do higher level dungeons without 6 boxing it yourself, or actually finding an active guild that might be doing the ones you want. At that point solo play is pretty much finished and with no way to really multiplayer, its time to move on once your bored with solo playing.

But don't just skip the game for that, again there is a lot of fun solo playing you can do for a long time, just know up front your going to hit a wall at higher levels with no one about.

I hate that the majority of the game forces you to play with other players. Not only because its pretty much dead so its incredibly hard to do it, but it also makes it so I have to wait an eternity to play, and additionally it also sucks when other players misplay. I wouldn't mind if there was a difficulty for a true solo play (none of those companions ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥), but even the lowest difficulties for stuff over lvl 125+ start to become impossible. Also I feel they really streamlined everything, all of it feels so inferior to the 2021-2013 version of the game. Its like it has no pulse.

The secret to wakfu is that you have to play it at the minimum "du*l-bo*ed" with a program like san**ox. Youre welcome.

Totally agree.

The worst part about this game is the forced "commitment". Nothing is casual anymore about it after Lv100+. Even for multiboxers who doesn't rely on other players to play dungeon, this game is getting very repetitive and tiresome after Lv100+. And the need to switch from account windows to windows just so we can easily play the dungeons with a full party controlled by ourselves is building up the fatigue fast as well.

And to make things worse, the game knowing its problem, started to add in the "Hero System" and tried to put pressure on the multibox players by changing a lot on how the market and items works (account/character locked) while on the other hand, the Hero system doesn't give you a full feature even when they asked for monthly payment. They only let you play 3 heroes with the pass (at the expense of Sidekick slots being taken) and that still resulted in a lack of 3 to form a full party. Yes, the system doesn't add more playable slots to your party, it simply let you use your alt on the sidekick's slot. Other than the Heroes have better stats than sidekicks, you don't get much advantages from it at all. When compared with other SRPG/TRPG out there, where they give you tons of characters (some more than you can ever use) and never asked a penny for using the characters you owned in a battle because it's a "core feature" of TRPG/SRPG, when we think about it, Wakfu is asking for money and locked a "core key feature" behind a "paywall", where they could have earn money by other methods... this kills the mood and fun as well as the final trust I have about this game company.

If Wakfu asked for money for each slot of a new character, and open up full 6 heroes to be play-able in the battle for free. I'd have loved the game a bit more and willing to pay quite a bit to open up a ton of the character slots just so i can enjoy more strategy play styles. But asking for monthly payment for a core feature and didn't even provide the thing in full service? Heck no!

Before someone jumped on to say "Hey! That may further kill the already dead Co-op play in Wakfu!", bear in mind that there are plenty of TRPG online that lets you manage your team while at the same time able to play in co-op where each player gets to send in a few characters (based on how many players available) in a totally flexible way. And FYI, It never took me more than a few seconds to get a group going in those games. It's do-able, and already been done and proven to work out there, no excuses on that part. Hero system + Sidekick is already doing a great job on that part, just not flexible enough for full solo player and still forced a co-op play in the end.

So bottom line, if you can't get a party going, you are either forced to pay for 2 accounts with hero system and doing 2 multibox windows game play, or if you don't want to pay monthly, will be forced to play 6 multibox windows game play, which can be super tiresome especially on switching windows with that timer thingy ticking and forcing you to act quick. What about 3 accounts with sidekicks? Well do-able at early stages, but the higher level you go the more lacking the sidekicks become, so in the end you will still be forced to level up 6 heroes to get a team going, and no, we can't to that in a single account due to that 2 slots limit on their "Sidekicks"/"Hero system".... :tscrying:

Dev: "It's too troublesome to change the UI and game codes to add more playable slots, that's why we reuse the Sidekick slots for the Hero System... We are not lazy, we are just resourceful and like recycling stuffs... We are eco friendly!"
