Repair and Reinstall didn't help.
Fix for me was Avast antivirus was quarantining "zaap-start.bat"
Steps will be different for other AV software. Solution for this is to open Avast, go to protection tab, select Virus Chest. If you find "zaap-start.bat" in the list simply select it and choose "Restore and add exception"
this is not the first time it has caused problems for me.
with memory problems from java loading .

ps beta is working no cracters in frence server:(
Hi, I just had this problem and I found the solution.
Avast quaretined the zaap-start.bat file and stores it in its quarantine location, to access this you right click on your avast icon in your system tray and go to Quarantine, Otherwise you can go to protection and then go to Quarantine.
Once there you need to just check the item and then click the ellipsis and 'Restore and add exception'
Then run wakfu and it should work just fine.
Hope this helped.
i know nothing about java
Well, it's been 2 years since I posted this problem and I don't even have the game installed at this moment, but after a quick search I noticed that it seems things have changed a bit. I can't really help you directly now, but if your problem is the same one that I had, the only thing I can tell you it's that it has something to do with the minimum/maximum ram you allocate to the game. Maybe this post from the Ankama[WAKFU] Official Forums can help you with how the game is nowdays: https://www.wakfu.com/en/forum/193-news/242182-allocate-more-ram-improve-performance.
I'm gonna mark you question as the solution since steam won't let me mark my own comments as a solution for some reason, because this post is very old and I don't think it can keep up to date with this game, since it recives updates constantly. If someone else is reading this and you have a similar problem, post a new discusion or try researching in the internet, Wakfu is a big mmo with a big comunity I'm sure someone else had/have the problem more recently.
To actually reinstall the game and get the up-to-date files (the launcher seems to be horrible at updating game files if you missed multiple versions), you need to either uninstall the game in the launcher itself (Settings under the Play Button->General->Uninstall) or navigate to the game folder, delete it and then uninstall it through the launcher (which throws a couple of errors, but works anyway).
I mention the last part with deleting the directory manually because that's what I did, as I only found the uninstall button afterwards :P
I'm not sure I trust that launcher to do it correctly on it's own as it didn't update correctly either, but you might as well try.
Anyway, after I did that, I could start the game again.
(I did also increase the allocated memory though (that alone didn't work) and am too lazy to try without that again)
