I bought VamX on Steam and now it doesn't work anymore, what happened? I can't even download new things from the community hub

When I go to "Check Integrity of Games Files" I get this message "2 files failed to be validate and will be reacquired", then I run the game, the game crashes and I do "Check Integrity" again and again and then the message "2 files failed to be validate and will be reacquired" appears over and over again.

I'm not sure what's wrong with your game but I'm still able to start up my game and download stuff.

have you tried using the vam updater in the local files folder to synch and repair core integrity ?

Just in case some are facing the same problem, by this point this is an old issue that comes with the Steam release which isn't supported anymore by the VaM HUB.

For more information on how to proceed: https://sxvr.com/steam/

Once the Steam's VaM files are updated to the latest free update version (1.20.77.8 at the moment), you might have to do a bit of a file fix manually.

In the [...]\VaMX\Keys folder, if you don't see any folder called "1.22", you have to create one named that and copy/paste the "key.json" located in the "1.20" or, if present, "1.21" folder into that new "1.22" folder. Repeat the same process for a new folder in the "Keys Teaser" folder.

In the explanation above, [...] in the path can be the Steam's app folder (...\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common), or whatever path which define the location of the VaM folder on the PC. Once the client gets patched with the updated (from the link above), it becomes independant to the Steam API, hence it might be a good idea to move it out of the Steam's apps folder.

Just as a point of clarification, is that site the official place for new updates? If Steam client is no longer directly supported, and the Patreon version/updates stop at 1.22, then this would be the new official location? This is the first time I've seen this link, so I'm just wanting to make sure.

I have so much stuff broken, and I wasn't aware that Steam's 1.20 was separate from VAM's current state.

I've updated my steam version to 1.28 from my original steam version. Runs pretty good with no problems.

the update is so tricky, i have done it multiple times and sometimes it works great.. and other times i delete the entire thing and try again. It is best to leave it the on the 1.20 version from the clean install and do the Dev's free steam updates. and after that you would hit use update file in the game directly and it should take you all the way up to the latest versions on its own.
