What's the point of this if 2.0 is coming?
While I'm glad to finally see VaM as a standalone purchase on steam, I was disappointed to learn there will be no upgrade coming to this version. So my question is if there is going to be a 2.0 with more bells and whistles then why buy this version? Is 2.0 just super far off from release?

2.0 is super far off from releasing, and certainly from releasing with the kind of features 1.x has.

Also the tens of thousands of user created content that 1.x has won't work in 2.x.

It's more like two different products.

2.x is potentially exciting, but practically, still in a long development cycle, with no estimated release date at all.

Also, frankly, there is just so much amazing stuff to experience in this release, even once there is a newer game with higher graphics quality, I don't expect this to become obsolete.

It's quite an experience in VR, very engaging and diverse, and it's still hungering for improved VR cards and processors in it's current 1.x version.

Also, what is possible to do with 1.x still hasn't been reached (more content coming for free in the future!), and due to 1.x's extensive plugin system, it can continue to grow and develop indefinitely. I feel strange comparing this with Skyrim, but there is something about the extensibility of both that can just make a game last, even if newer games have better graphics quality (and even in that regards, you then see reskins of Skyrim with improved textures, etc.).

That said, hopefully in a couple of years we'll see Virt-a-Mate 2.x + vamX.

Appreciate the detailed response. I tried VaM awhile back but the complexity and subscription model put me off. I'll revisit it here on steam and see how it goes.

It will be much less expensive and contain much more content and features.

Is this even fair? I'll buy it either way, but I may have to slip someone an extra $20.

Will it sync with lovesense? I hope so

VaMX includes compatibility with VaMSync, which is installed separately for free, but when installed immediately integrates into VaMX and controls various sex toys. VaMX also walks you through the whole process and provides in game menus for easy control. We currently support stroking toys, e.g. the synchronization is between the action on screen and a stroking toy for a male, like The Handy, Fleshlight Launch, or OSR2 (by Tempest MAx). That said VaMSync has wide general compatibility so you might be able to get it to work with other toys. Let me know how it goes and feel free to start a separate topic once you start playing around. VaMX is under active development, and new features will be added for free, so if the community wants lovense compatibility, and VaMSync has enough general features to allow for that, it's possible (definitely no guarantees here) that this feature could arrive in the future.

Oh! I thought this was the fabled 2.0 version. Good to know.

So I understand 1.x mods won't work on 2.0, but do 1.x mods work on VaMX?

Yes, any Vam 1.x content works with the steam version. Just drop the var files in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\VaMX\AddonPackages

Vam 2.0 is still a very long ways off for release. It shouldn't honestly be considered at this point. Content creators will need to start over and create new content for 2.0 when that does finally release. You need to see the possibilities already achieved with VAM 1.x and vamX

Thank you for your transparency, which sadly with most Devs and publishers, is quite rare

So how does buying this here differ from joining Patreon. If you buy here do you get updates for life?

I remember on Patreon if you stopped subscribing you also stopped getting updates, which turned me off.

Are you saying there are enhanced graphic mods available? Or will be in the future?

There are enhanced graphics mods available that are actually a part of the vamX suite. If you have a powerful PC, you should be able to turn all settings to max and utilize image quaity enhancing plugins.
