Painkiller Hell & Damnation

Painkiller Hell & Damnation

Should I buy this, or the Black Edition?
My understanding is both Hell & Damnation AND Black Edition contains the original Pain Killer and Battle out of Hell, except Hell & Damnation is the prettier more modern remake?

I truly enjoyed the Black Edition on DVD, and wouldn't mind owning it again on Steam. If this new Hell & Damnation is just a visual upgrade (and possibly not as good as the original), I'm going to stick with Black Edition instead.

there is a forum here way way way WAY earlier. Even a Dev said a good way to start the Painkiller games is Starting the Black Edition first.
Black Edition. Actually it's the only game in whole franchise that worth playing (it was made by People Can Fly). HD version has some features like co-op (and splitscreen), controller support and survival mode, but they are borderline broken. Not to mention that the whole game is a broken mess. But you can buy some DLC if you like buying DLC that much.

At worst there might be an issue with display resolutions (getting a grey screen etc.), but that can easily be fixed by setting a lower resolution in-game or on your monitor or something like that.

My understanding is this game supports 1920 x 1200. If so, it should do just fine on my 24".

Buy black edition not this! In black edition there are more levels, more kind of monsters, ect. Much better than this.

***This question is re: Black Edition, but since no one's responding on that forum, I figured to ask for help here as some of you may own Black Edition as well***

Hi guys,

So I downloaded the demo of the Black Edition and am pretty much set on buying the game now. The only issue I've experienced so far is that I have Next / Previous weapon assigned to mouse wheel down / up------while this DOES work, there is severe lagging, I have to scroll the wheel quite a few times (3 times, to be exact) before weapons would switch.

I don't remember having this problem playing the original DVD version I have back on Windows 2000.

Am I the only one? It is this game? Or my mouse? What gives?

Yeah, If you use mouse wheel to switch between weapons, there will be a lag with each weapon select. I have the original dvd version, and its the same. Anyway, I think its not annoying, it only appear at weapon select, and if you go through all weapons with the mouse wheel 1-2 times, it won't do that again on that level. Or change maybe weapons with the numbers

Hell & Damnation is an unfinished remake, new developer is trying to milk people with tons of dlcs.

Painkiller Black Edition isn't too old game, and the graphics of the game is still great enough. There is no reason to buy new "hd" one.

Hell & Damnation is great.
But I have to admit that the developer makes to much DLC and wants to much money...
And now some DLCs are even broken or at least the bosses.
I like both but I prefer the HD Remake in modern times. Looks nice, updated and has a lot of new things like controller support. Black is still great though.

There is a wheel sensetivity setting. Set it to 4.

^^^Yeah I'm really fond of Black Editon. My concern is the mouse wheel lagging issue mentioned a few posts above. A shooter game that can't change weapon on demand is pretty crippled, and I don't like use keyboards to switch weapons either.

Maybe I should get a 5-button mouse and assign the 2 side buttons to PREVIOUS / NEXT WEAPON. Just saying.

I'm assuming that most if not all of you have the same mousewheel problem as I do?
