apparently my game is a "virus"
I made a simple game, I wanted to send it to my friend to playtest it, but now whenever I compile a game to an executable it gets treated as a virus and I can't send it to anyone on anything even if I put it in a .zip with a readme file. They've made multiple versions of game maker yet this has been an issue and it keeps getting worse. How the ♥♥♥♥ am I supposed to fix this? Apparently people using GMS2 don't have this issue so what am I not allowed to make games using the program I paid for? sorry for the rant but this is getting ridiculous. If this doesn't stop I'm not supporting yoyo games anymore. I'm not going to spend my time and energy making a game just so nobody can play it and I KNOW i'm not the only person having issues like these.

TLDR can't compile and send games on anything because it gets labeled as a virus how do I fix this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

This is mainly a false postive issue with antivirus software. I believe you can mark it as safe and have it work, but your friends may have to do that as well.

no this is happening on literally everything. I cannot send it through fb messenger, discord, not even google drive which worked perfectly in the past. this is inexcusable and I'm tired of having to abandon my projects because of issues that aren't my fault.

either this is a win10 issue or yoygames is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with 1.4 so people have to use gms2. if it's the latter then I will no longer support such a greedy company. I already lost game maker 8.1 that I paid for because it randomly stopped working and I couldn't redownload it anywhere and if I can no longer use studio 1.4 I'm done.

You generally can’t send exe files around the internet, find a better way to distribute the game. (zipping doesn’t change anything because it’s not 1998 anymore when that might have worked)

SIDENOTE: I miss how easy it was to prototype on version 8.1. Now with all the bloated engine it takes forever to get to the start of a game let alone get into the thick of things.

"find a better way to distribute your game" so I can't put it in an archive without it being labeled a virus, if I make it an installer package windows 10 is still going to tell people its a virus, then what?

I shouldn't have to "find a better way to distribute my game" if I export my game and there isn't anything weird in there that makes it act like a virus, it should just work. this has been an issue since 8.1 and it is now 2018. My friend is able to make similar ♥♥♥♥ in multimedia fusion and send the exe DIRECTLY to me and he never has to deal with this ♥♥♥♥. honestly if this never gets resolved game maker can actually go ♥♥♥♥ itself.

Possible solution might be installing the exe then ziping the installed game and then send the zip file.

Put the exe in an encrypted zip. No program will know what's inside it without the password.

Can you try uploading one of those executables here, without encryption:

https://virusscan.jotti.org/
https://www.virustotal.com/

Just curious what the result is, though the file size may be limited.
