There are dozens of threads on both this discussion board and the GMS2 board that probably answers all of the questions you may have about this transition - including how to install the free version of GMS1 in Steam. No point in repeating everything again.
It's business as usual for Yoyo Games though. This is how every Game Maker transition in the past has been.
(I was working with the free version)
Why don't you try responding to the same questions 20+ times (several of which are in this same board just a few posts down from where you found this exact thread - you don't even need to use the search box) and tell me where your enthusiasm is then. I'm sure many people have just stopped responding to these by now - I certainly did for a while. Yoyo Games doesn't even respond to the Steam forums anymore, and they get paid to support their customers.

Supposedly yes, but I've seen people say their projects do not import correctly in GMS2. I've seen others recommend just sticking to GMS1 if your GMS1 project is almost complete.
Purchasing GMS2 should give you a key for GMS1 Pro - I wouldn't know about that personally though. I'm just going by what everyone else has said... in allllllll the other threads where that question was asked. (sorry if I seem agitated)
Wow, that was sure easy.
that didn't work
